ST. JOHN BREBEUF SCHOOL RAISES OVER $94,000 AT ANNUAL GALA
21st annual dinner and auction raises funds for 1:1 technology initiative
Over 350 people attended the 21st Annual Gala at St. John Brebeuf School on Saturday, November 8, 2014. The dinner and auction, which took place at the Thomas P. May Parish Ministry Center on the parish campus, grossed over $94,000. Monies were raised through ticket sales, event sponsorships, a grand raffle, Heads or Tails contest, and both live and silent auction item sales.
During the evening, the benefit raised $15,229 for SJB’s Jaguar Pounce Program. The goal of the Pounce Program is to fund an immediate academic need. Pounce dollars were raised to help secure a new science program called “Science Fusion” from Houghton Mifflin/Harcourt. The event also honored teacher and parishioner, Penny Guerrieri, with the Sheila Harrington Award for service and commitment to Catholic education.
“We were so happy to be a part of making a difference at St. John Brebeuf School. The event’s great success was due to a blend of parishioners, school families, friends and relatives. Their generosity will be making a huge difference in the daily lives of the students at SJB. The money raised will help fund a variety of projects including our 1:1 technology initiative” reported School Advisory Board Vice-President, Dave Gurdak who chaired the event with his wife, Jennifer.

New principal, Elise Matson, attended the event. She said, “It was impressive to see how such an amazing event was organized and run by parent volunteers. The support for St. John Brebeuf was overwhelming. The funds raised by the Gala will allow our school to update our curriculum and move forward with our technology initiative.”
