Tom Kastle, Mariner Troubador


    Tom, a matey of the late Ralph Frese, will

be on hand from 2:00 p.m. to share his tales. Doors open at 1:00 p.m., and the

free program will start shortly after a brief word from the Society. There will be refreshments afterwards.

     Tom Kastle is a singer, songwriter, sailorand teller of tales who has erformed throughout the US, Canada, Europe, and

New Zealand. He has one foot in the modern singer/songwriter world and the

other planted in the traditional maritime realm where he is a shanty and ballad

ringer and a tall ship captain who has commanded the tall ships Windy, Windy

II, and red Witch in Chicago. He is a co-director of the Chicago Maritime

Festival, a faculty member of the Old Town School of Folk Music, and the

Narrator (with occasional singing roles) for the Candid Concert Opera Company.

When ashore, he lives in a 19th century logtage in Madison, Wisconsin.
