Two Stolen Vehicles, Storage Unit Burglarized: Niles Crimes

THEFT

An employee at a retail store in the 8500 block of Gold Road reported that her wallet, containing $400 in cash and numerous ID cards, had been removed from an employee common area between 1:15 p.m. and 11 p.m. on July 24.
STOLEN VEHICLE

A 2005 GMC was reported stolen while parked in the 8100 block of North Milwaukee Avenue sometime after 9 p.m. on July 24. The vehicle was entered into the state theft database.
TELEPHONE HARASSMENT
A resident of a residential home in the 8700 block of Shermer Road reported receiving threatening calls on July 25 around 9 a.m. He said he had been involved in a traffic crash with the person who had been calling him in Chicago earlier in the month. The person called up the resident and threatened to hurt him. The resident was advised to call the police if he was ever contacted by the person again.
BURGLARY
An employee at a commercial business in the 5600 block of West Jarvis Avenue in Niles reported that someone had forcibly entered an area enclosed by a locked fence and removed scrap metal between 8 a.m. on July 23 and 8:27 a.m. on July 24. An investigation is pending.
VEHICLE THEFT
A resident in the 7900 block of Oconto Avenue reproted that someone stole a 2014 Honda minivan between 10 p.m. on July 23 and 6 a.m on July 24. THe vehicle was entered into the state theft database.
RETAIL THEFT
Police were told two people, one male and one female, entered a retail store in the 9000 block of North Greenwood Avenue around 1:45 a.m. on July 24 and stole three cases of Red Bull valued at $66.
THEFT
A resident in the 8800 block of Gold Road reported that someone took a box that had been delivered and left outside the mailboxes of the condominiums between 8 a.m and 5 p.m. on July 15. The reported loss was $30.
BURGLARY TO PUBLIC STORAGE
A patron of a storage facility in the 7300 block of Lehigh Avenue reported that someone forcibly entered his storage locker and stole several thousand dollars worth of property.
ARRESTS
Damaris Rodriguez, 21, of the 10300 block of Michael Todd Terrace in Glenview, was arrested July 25 at 1:47 a.m. in the 9600 block of Greenwood and charged with felony driving under the influence. Police said she was stopped for suspicion of DUI and found to be under the influence of cannabis and alcohol.
RETAIL THEFT
Derek Newbury, 34, of the 4800 block of North Hermitage Avenue in Chicago was arrested July 22 at 6:39 p.m. at Golf Mill Center and charged with retail theft. Police said he took $386 worth of clothes without paying for it.
WARRANT ARREST
David Curtis, 28, of the 6600 block of Double Eagle Drive in Willowbrook, was arrested on July 23 at 1:50 p.m. in the 8700 block of Dempster Street after police determined he had an outstanding warrant issued by DuPage County for retail theft.
