Village Announces Balanced Budget for 2012
Public hearing will be held regarding the budget at the next village board meeting on Dec. 12.

Village trustees were pleased to announce a balanced budget for 2012 at last night’s Morton Grove Village Board meeting.

“I just want to stress for our residents, that we had a balanced budget again for 2012,” said Trustee Maria Toth. “I’d like to thank our department heads and staff for all of their hard work.”
Next year’s expenditures for the Village of Morton Grove total $53,551,475 and the Morton Grove Public Library’s budget totals $3,154,901.

Decrease in Tax Levy
The board also announced a 1.03 percent decrease in tax levy for Morton Grove residents in 2012. Total amount of levy before abatement amounts to $17,874,228. However, the village plans to adopt a series of resolutions which will “immediately abate” $5,231,265 from the levy.
Morton Grove’s budget was originally presented at a workshop held on Oct. 25 and revised from there. A public hearing on the 2012 budget will be held during the next village board meeting on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Richard T. Flickinger Municipal Center.
