What Causes Incivility?

What is the cause of moral corruption in our society's young people? I'm talking about depravity that often leads to lack of respect and obedience to our laws, rules, triditions and in some cases acts of violence.
The usual suspects in terms of causation include: Use of drugs and/or liquor; poverty; bombardment of violence via television and hollywood and availability of guns. The aforementioned can play a roll in the decay of morality in our youths, but in my opinion absence of parental authority is central to the cause of misconduct in our kids.
The first thing a child loses in a home without authority is a strong sense of identity. The child with a clear sense of place in the family is likely to develope a clear sense of who he or she is outside of it. It's safe to say that lack of authority in the home will affect a youngster's ability to live with authority in society. Parents who provide strong leadership teach their children to live with and recognize true authority.
Permissive parents rob society of youths who can recognize true authority, i.e., police, educators and clergy, and reject counterfeits such as street gangs, hollywood hero's and drug dealers.
