Will Your Kids Be Doing What They Love This Summer?

Morton Grove, Il, April 29, 2015 – Virtuoso Performing Arts is excited to announce that their Musical Theater Camp will be performing a fully-staged production of Shrek The Musical Jr. this summer, with camp sessions starting June 8 and July 6. The Morton Grove summer camp, which is open to students in grades 1 -12 with all levels of experience, provides a uniquely professional atmosphere in which to learn and perform.

The Musical Theater Camp offers both day and evening sessions, allowing parents to send their kids to a safe, fun and inspiring environment while they are at work or simply enjoying some much-needed time to themselves. Our day camp also offers a convenient extended day care option for parents with irregular or extended work hours.

Campers will audition for roles in the musical on May 31 at Virtuoso Performing Arts’ studio in Morton Grove. All participants will receive a role and be a crucial part of the production’s success. From audition to rehearsal to performance, campers will walk away with a taste of what life is like for professional stage performers.

Students participating in Virtuoso Performing Art’s Musical Theater Camp will be under the direction of professional director and actor David Zizic. Zizic is an ensemble member of Imagination Theater and has an impressive roster of directing credits under his belt (including “The Wizard of Oz”, “Beauty and the Beast”, and “High School Musical”).

“I’m thrilled to be working with a team of fellow professionals to bring the magical world of Shrek to the Morton Grove area,” Zizic explained. “Our performers are in for a fun and inspiring summer learning about music and theatre through the presentation of this musical.”

Shrek the Musical Jr. follows an ogre named Shrek, whose land becomes the banishing grounds for fairytale misfits. To reclaim his land, Shrek makes a deal with Farquaad to rescue the feisty princess Fiona from a tower guarded by a fierce dragon. Setting off with his faithful companion, Donkey, Shrek begins the journey of a lifetime filled with adventure, romance, and hilarity.
