Woman Fatally Struck While Walking Along Golf Road In Niles
A 61-year-old pedestrian died after she was hit by a car Sunday night.

NILES, IL — A pedestrian died Sunday night after being struck by a car while walking in the street on the border of Niles and Glenview, police said.
Annamma Abraham, 61, of the 9600 block of Golf Terrace in unincorporated Des Plaines, was walking east in the curb lane of Golf Road shortly before 8:30 p.m., when she was hit by an eastbound Honda, according to Niles police.
The driver of the Honda, a 46-year-old Glenview woman, immediately stopped and remained on scene, police said. There was no sign she was impaired and has cooperated with the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force Major Crash Assistance Team, which is investigating the incident.

Abraham was taken to Lutheran General Hospital and pronounced dead at 9:46 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. It ruled her death an accident caused by being hit by a motor vehicle.
There are no sidewalks on the area of Golf Road where Abraham was hit, less than half-mile from her home in an area of unincorporated Maine Township just west of the borders of Niles and Glenview.

So far this year, three pedestrians have died in Niles and Morton Grove after being struck by cars. No one faces charges in connection with any of them.
There is a $20,000 reward leading to information about the suspected hit-and-run driver who struck and killed an 86-year-old Morton Grove man in January on Shermer Road.
Later in January, a 78-year-old resident of a Niles nursing home was killed after he walked directly in front of an SUV on Dempster Street.
