Woman Hit By Car, Killed While Crossing Golf Road In Niles

Police continue to investigate a car hitting a pedestrian near Golf and Milwaukee Avenue.

NILES, IL - A woman was hit by a car and killed Wednesday night while attempting to cross Golf Road in Niles on foot. Police responded to the 8300 block of Golf Road in Niles, where they found a woman in her 60s who had just been hit by a Kia Sorrento around 7:22 p.m. The Kia was traveling eastbound in the inner lane on Golf while the woman was attempting to cross heading northbound, Niles police said in a statement Wednesday night.

The first police officer who arrived on scene immediately began CPR and more live saving measures were taken as she was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased at 8:04 p.m.

Golf Road remained closed between Washington and Milwaukee avenues as of 9:30 p.m., as police continue to work with NORTAF and the Major Crash Assistance Team on piecing together what happened.
