Woman Street Racing At 101 MPH With Drugs: Morton Grove Crimes

MORTON GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Morton Grove Police Department as a record of police activity. Readers are reminded that an arrest by the police does not constitute a finding of guilt, criminal charges — representing merely accusations by the state — are often dropped or reduced and all persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
INCIDENTS
THEFT
A patron at the Best Western Morton Grove told police on Jan. 14 that a laptop was stolen from her room at the hotel. She said she told staff she was going to transfer rooms, and did not want the room cleaned, explaining she would move her belongings when she returned from her outing. But when she came back and began to move her stuff she noticed a MacBook Pro laptop was missing.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICE
The resident in the 7900 block of Wilson Terrace told police on Jan. 17 that she had applied for a job through a job website and she had received an email documents she had to sign for the job from a person claiming to be from a representative of the company. She told police the company representative sent her a check to deposit in her checking account, they then asked her to send a copy of the deposit slip to them along with a copy of her driver’s license, which she did. The purported representative then asked her to deposit most of the check into another bank account. However, she did not follow any further demands and did not send any money.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Jaime Gladney, 23, of the 1000 block of Argonne Drive, North Chicago, was arrested on Jan. 18 after Zion police notified Morton Grove officers they had the Gladney at their station for local charges and for an active warrant for a fleeing and eluding charge from Morton Grove.
A 24-year-old Chicago man came into the Morton Grove Police Department on Jan. 19 to turn himself in on a pending retail theft charge.
Michelle Coral, 21, of the 500 block of Kinsbury, Chicago, was arrested Jan. 18 near the intersection of Hennings Court and Narragansett Avenue after police pulled her over for driving 101 mph in a 35 mph zone. She was charged with reckless driving and misdemeanor speeding, street racing, fleeing and eluding a peace officer as well as felony possession of a controlled substance.
A 47-year-old Skokie man was arrested Jan. 18 following a traffic stop near the intersection of Church Street and Linder Avenue and charged with driving with a suspended license.
Muhammad Mukhi, 64, of the 5800 block of Crain Street, Morton Grove, was arrested Jan. 19 and charged with a felony unlawful defrauding a drug and alcohol screening test for selling synthetic urine kits at his shop. He was also issued a local citation for failing to keep records of paraphernalia sales.
