• Annual Lake Forest charity golf outing which raises money for North Chicago HS graduates set for Sept. 12 (chicagotribune.com) — A September 12 charity golf outing at Foss Park Golf Course in North Chicago will raise full-tuition scholarships for City of North Chicago high school graduates to attend the College of Lake County. Co-sponsored by Faith Lutheran Church and the North Chicago Public Education Foundation, the event includes 18 holes, contests, and an LPGA challenge. Organizers already support 32 local students with expanded three-year funding and counseling.
   

• Domestic Battery, 3 DUI Arrests: Riverwoods Police Blotter (patch.com) — A Riverwoods police blotter notes that a 32-year-old North Chicago resident was arrested earlier this month on DUI and traffic charges following a late-night stop near Lake Cook and Portwine roads. The report also lists other DUI and domestic battery cases from surrounding communities, with all defendants presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
   

• Angry patrons set Lake County bar on fire after being kicked out: officials (fox32chicago.com) — Detectives investigating a devastating arson at Social Pub in Beach Park tracked a suspect vehicle to Broadway Avenue in North Chicago, where they interviewed two people tied to the case. Three Waukegan men now face felony arson charges, accused of burning the bar after being removed from the business weeks earlier.
