• State voids plan to close 2 North Chicago charter schools: ‘Now we have some certainty on what we need to do' (chicagotribune.com) — Families in North Chicago can expect LEARN 6 and LEARN 10 charter schools to stay open for now after the state overruled District 187’s plan to close them, but only if strict conditions are met. LEARN must secure long-term building arrangements, including approvals from the city of North Chicago, or risk the schools shutting down after the 2026-27 year. 
• Family Pets Rescued From Burning Lake Forest Home (patch.com) — North Chicago firefighters were among several neighboring departments that helped Lake Forest crews rescue two dogs and a cat from a house fire near Westleigh and Green Bay Roads Friday afternoon. No injuries were reported, and the blaze was contained to the attic area above the garage, but the response highlights how North Chicago’s department supports nearby communities during major calls.
