• $292 paid per household in property taxes for Orland Hills local funds in 2024 (southcooknews.com) — North Riverside households paid an average of $9,233 toward police and fire pensions in 2024, one of the highest per-household burdens in Illinois, according to state data. A new statewide ranking shows how North Riverside compares with hundreds of other municipalities, highlighting growing pension obligations and how much of that cost is being carried by local property taxpayers. 
• Brookfield is set to increase water costs by 4% (rblandmark.com) — Brookfield plans a 4.13% water rate hike, but even after the increase its water will still cost slightly less than in North Riverside and other nearby suburbs. The change helps Brookfield repay zero-interest state loans used to replace lead service lines, with further increases expected in 2027 and 2028.
