$1,400 In Goods Stolen From CVS, Arrest Made: Northbrook Crimes

Northbrook Police Blotter: Feb. 2 - Feb. 8

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and a list of those arrested. Criminal charges are often dropped or reduced and represent merely accusations by the state. An arrest does not mean a person is guilty, and all persons named are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

THEFT
A patron at a business in the 1300 block of Techny Road reported at 3 p.m. on Jan. 31 that someone had stolen a watch and a wedding ring from an unlocked locker.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICE
Police were told a person who had closed on the refinance of a loan in the 900 block of Skokie Boulevard and was supposed to receive funds from the new loan said they completed disbursement paperwork but learned that someone else had already received the funds on Jan. 26.

IDENTITY THEFT
Police were told that someone used a resident's information without authorization at the Macy's in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road on Jan. 28-29.

FRAUD
A resident of the 1300 block of Edgewood Lane reported at 6:43 p.m. on Feb. 2 that someone had cashed two checks from a checking account without their permission.

THEFT
A patron at the Trader Joe's in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard reported at 12:10 p.m. on Feb. 4 that they had been shopping at various stores, then when they attempted to pay for groceries, they discovered their wallet was missing from their purse.

BURGLARY
Someone stole various power tools from a maintenance building in the 1300 block of Willow Road, police were told on Feb. 5.

HOME BURGALARY
A resident in the 2200 block of Valencia Drive reported at 9:46 p.m. on Feb. 6 that they discovered their house had been ransacked after returning home.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICE
A person at a business in the 3700 block Torrey Pines Parkway reported shortly before 1 p.m. on Feb. 8 that two checks had bounced.


ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Edward B. Bukwa, 55, of the 5300 block of South Francisco Avenue, Chicago, was arrested 11:54 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence, with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving and uninsured vehicle and improper lane usage following a traffic stop at Skokie Boulevard and Dundee Road. Police noticed him commit a traffic violation, pulled him over and determined he was intoxicated.

A 45-year-old Wheeling man was arrested at 12:57 a.m. on Feb. 3 at Willow and Landwehr roads after he was pulled over for a traffic violation and police learned he was driving with a suspended license. He was also ticketed for improper lane usage and driving without insurance.

Florence N. Reyes, 46, of the 3100 block of North Central Park Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 1:39 a.m. on Feb. 3 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, violating the median and driving without insurance following a traffic stop near the intersection Dundee Road and Timber Lane.

A 36-year-old Chicago man was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license, without proof of insurance and improper use of an electronic device at 10:52 a.m. on Feb. 3 near the intersection of Landwehr Road and Lindberg Lane.

Ronald Dillard, 44, of the 3000 block of East 133rd Street, Chicago, was arrested at 10:26 a.m. on Feb. 4 and charged with felony retail theft. Police were told he left the CVS in the 900 block of Willow Road without having paid for about $1,400 worth of merchandise. He reportedly left the area in a vehicle which was later stopped in Morton Grove after dispatchers put out a description of it.

Weislaw Czerepak, 57, of the 1200 block of East Ardyce Lane, Mount Prospect, was arrested at 7:26 p.m. on Feb. 4 after police responded to the area of Dundee and Sanders roads for a report of a traffic crash. Police were told one of the vehicles involved in the crash had left the scene, and it was later stopped by Wheeling police. Czerepak was also cited for improper lane usage.

Danny A. Louras, 29, of the 900 block of Southridge Terrace, Northfield, was arrested at 10:05 p.m. on Feb. 4 and near the intersection of Willow and Pfingsten roads and charged with driving under the influence. Police on routine patrol noticed a vehicle commit a traffic violation, pulled it over and determined determined that the driver was DUI. Louras was also ticketed for speeding and failure to signal.

Redante R. Redditt, 38, of the 1600 block of Constance Avenue, Sauk Village, was arrested at 4:20 p.m. on Feb. 7 at the Verizon Wireless store in the 200 block of Skokie Boulevard and charged with felony identity theft. Police were told he tried to buy two iPhones using unauthorized account information.

Jacob Connor Marx, 20, of the 2700 block of Woodland Drive, Northbrook, was arrested at 12:19 a.m. on Feb. 8 at the intersection of Keystone Avenue and Redwood Lane and charged with driving under the influence after an officer on patrol checked on a suspicious occupied vehicle, made contact with him and determined he was intoxicated and in control of the vehicle.
