NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

UNLAWFUL USE OF A WEAPON

Loany Guilen, of Wheeling, Aaron Alvarez Guerrero, of Round Lake, and Zuriel J. Rodriguez, of Mundelein, are accused of unlawful use of a weapon, and were arrested at 2:21 a.m. Feb. 13, in the 2500 block of Windrush Lane. An officer on a routine patrol saw a heavily tinted vehicle in the residential area and obtained probable cause to search the vehicle and the occupants of the car. Police recovered a stolen Smith and Wesson SD9VE and a Glock 19.

SUSPENDED/REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Abel Ponce-Tavira is accused of having a suspended registration, driving on a revoked driver's license, and was arrested at 8:07 a.m. Feb. 15, at Shermer and Techny roads. No bond was offered due to the felony enhanced traffic charges. Ponce-Tavira was taken to Skokie Bond Court.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

  • Steven Mandrea, of the 1300 block of Horizon Lane, Northbrook, is accused of driving under the influence, speeding, suspended registration, no insurance, and was arrested at 11:01 p.m. Feb. 15, in the 300 block of Walters Avenue. Bond was set at $1,000 and a court date of March 23 was assigned.
  • Paul E. Richards, of the 1000 block of Whitfield Road, Northbrook, is accused of driving under the influence, improper parking, open alcohol, and was arrested at 6:03 p.m. Feb. 17, in the 1000 block of Midway. He was released after posting $1,000 bond and assigned a court date of March 23.

RETAIL THEFT

Desiree Skipper and Lucretia Daniels are both accused of retail theft, and were arrested at 6:18 p.m. Feb. 16, in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road. Highland Park police requested the presence of Northbrook Police at the Ulta in Highland Park after two offenders in a retail theft were in custody. It was determined several items from the Ulta in Northbrook were also taken. The offenders were arrested by Highland Park Police. Officers responded to Highland Park to determine if the items were taken from the Ulta in Northbrook. After investigation, it was determined that the items were taken from the Ulta in Northbrook.

SPEEDING

Timothy Kern, of the 1800 block of Ridge Avenue, Evanston, is accused of speeding 26-34 mph over the speed limit and was arrested at 9:39 a.m. Feb. 17, at Dundee and Lee roads. Kern was released after posting $2,500 bond and a court date of March 31 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

THEFT

A customer at Lifetime Fitness, 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 1:58 p.m. Feb. 13, at some point during her visit, someone removed items from her locker. She said her black Patagonia jacket and Louis Vuitton bag were removed. Total loss is over $1,600.

STOLEN VEHICLE

A resident in the 1200 block of Sunset Ridge Road called police to report that between Feb. 13-14, someone took their unlocked, parked vehicle. Inside the vehicle was complainant’s wallet, containing a driver’s license, social security card, and two credit cards, along with $100 in cash. The resident said the keys were left in the vehicle.

BURGLARY TO VEHICLE

A person reported that on Feb. 14, they had parked their vehicle at Northbrook Court, 1500 block of Lake Cook Road. When he returned to his vehicle, his driver’s license, debit card and credit cards were no longer in his center console. He said his credit card was used at the Target in Highland Park, but the card was denied at the store.

FBI ASSISTANCE

A Northbrook police officer stood by at 5:49 a.m. Feb. 16, while FBI agents executed a search warrant in the 2100 block of Ash Lane and a woman was taken into custody without incident.

RETAIL THEFT

  • An employee at Ulta, 900 block of Willow Road, reported at 6:40 p.m. Feb. 16, a woman wearing a black long sleeve, black leggings, and black boots entered the store and removed an unknown fragrance valued at approximately $200-$300.
  • An employee at Lowes, 1000 block of Willow Road, called police to report a power mower, valued at $699, was taken from the store on Feb. 16.
  • An employee at Ulta, 900 block of Willow Road, reported at 1:16 p.m. Feb. 17, a man with dreadlocks and a gray hat took two boxes of perfume and a skin care product, concealed them in a large bag, and left the store without paying for them.
  • An employee at Ulta, 900 block of Willow Road, called police Feb. 17, to report three men took multiple tester products from the perfume section as well as new boxes of perfume off the shelves on Feb. 4.
