Temple Beth-El Of Northbrook Names New Associate Rabbi (patch.com) — Northbrook’s Temple Beth-El is welcoming Rabbi Marina Yergin as its new associate rabbi starting July 1, following a national search. Returning to the Chicago area from San Antonio, she’s praised for her warmth, teaching, and commitment to inclusive Jewish community life, and will join the congregation with her husband and two sons.
2. Northbrook Resident Earns Degree At Nazareth University (patch.com) — Several Northbrook students are being recognized for standout academic milestones, including Emma Jacobs graduating summa cum laude from Nazareth University and Gabriella Ethen and Thomas Van Treeck earning degrees from Carthage College. Another local, Taylor Brocato, made the University of Arkansas Chancellor’s List with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Residents are invited to share more student achievements with the editor.
3. Northbrook School District 27 breaks ground on $43.5 million district-wide upgrades (chicagotribune.com) — Northbrook District 27 has begun a $16.6 million expansion at Hickory Point School, adding new classrooms, a sensory space, and more inclusive playgrounds for early childhood and special education students. Funded by a $43.5 million 2025 referendum, the plan also includes roof and HVAC upgrades at Shabonee, plus safety and parking improvements at Wood Oaks. Construction will roll out over the next two summers, with some work during the school year.
4. Northbrook, IL 60062 (redfin.com) — Northbrook’s Residential and Limited Commercial District is defined here as a mixed-use area meant to support diverse housing and small community-focused businesses while enhancing gateways into downtown. The guidelines stress good access to transit, safe circulation for cars, bikes, and pedestrians, and on-site stormwater management. Properties must also allow for adequate buffering from nearby homes and institutions.
