$1.5K Stolen From Tesla In Northbrook Residential Burglary: Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

Residential Burglary

• A resident in the 1700 block of Fieldwood Drive reported at 3:28 a.m. June 22, that she had left her garage door open overnight. At around 3 a.m., the resident heard a noise in the garage, according to police. It appeared an unknown person entered the garage and smashed the window of a 2023 Tesla to get inside. A bank bag containing $1,500 and various bank checks was stolen.

Stolen Vehicle

• A person reported at 10:18 p.m. June 21, that a 2019 white BMW was stolen from the 900 block of Skokie Boulevard. The person told police he parked the vehicle at the restaurant where he worked and hung the ignition keys near the front door. At around 11 p.m., he noticed the keys and vehicle had been stolen. Police said the vehicle was later found in the 5300 block of Martin Luther King Drive in Chicago and relocated back to the Northbrook Police Department.

Facebook Marketplace Scam

• A resident in the 1000 block of Cedar Lane reported at 4:07 p.m. June 22, that she was scammed after posting an item for sale on Facebook Marketplace. Police said three potential buyers inquired about the item but appeared to be the same person. After texting with the person, the resident was asked to contact a payment center to receive the payment. After having trouble receiving payment, customer service asked the resident to provide a deposit to make sure the payment would go through. She supplied the online service with more than $900 in gift card numbers to activate the account before realizing she had been scammed.

ARRESTS

DUI

• Alexandra C. Delger, of Northbrook, is accused of driving under the influence, following an arrest at 5:53 p.m. June 23, in the 1800 block of Sunnyside Circle. Officers responded to a driveway, where they found a 2026 black GMC Denali with its taillights on. Police said Delger appeared to be asleep and intoxicated behind the wheel with the vehicle’s brake lights on. Officers were able to wake Delger and make sure the vehicle was in park, police said. Delger appeared intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests. Her court date is pending.

Domestic Battery

Michael J. Caulfield, of Northbrook, is accused of domestic battery, resisting arrest and two counts of simple battery to officers, following an arrest at 9:17 p.m. June 23, in the 1000 block of Blackthorn Lane. Several officers responded to a residence after a report that Caulfield had struck a family member, according to police. Police said Caulfield attempted to walk away from officers to avoid arrest. When officers stopped him, he resisted by striking two officers and spitting on one of them. His court date is set for July 2.

Retail Theft

Igor Kaplunovsky, of Glenview, is accused of three counts of retail theft and possession of an anti-theft device, following an arrest at 5:08 p.m. June 24, in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard. Loss prevention staff at a retail store told police they saw Kaplunovsky walk into the store and go to the shoe department. Police said Kaplunovsky took off his flip-flop sandals and put on Nike Air Max sneakers that were for sale. Kaplunovsky used wire cutters to remove the security tag and tried to leave without paying, according to police. Loss prevention staff stopped him. Police said staff also recognized Kaplunovsky as the person accused of stealing shoes from the store June 17 and June 18. His court date is set for July 29.

Misdemeanor Speeding

Fahd Enneg, of Wilmette, is accused of misdemeanor speeding and operating an uninsured motor vehicle, following a traffic stop at 8:01 p.m. June 19, at Willow and Landwehr roads. Police said an officer saw a 2010 black Lexus HS traveling at a high speed and measured the vehicle at 81 mph in a 40 mph zone. Enneg’s court date is set for Aug. 5.

No Valid Driver’s License

Gabriel Bautista Quintana, of Prospect Heights, is accused of having a defective registration light and no valid driver’s license, following a traffic stop at 10:07 p.m. June 19, at Dundee Road and Downing Street. Police said an officer stopped a 2007 gray Nissan Pathfinder after seeing it had a defective license plate light. Bautista Quintana’s court date is set for July 20.

Suspended Registration

Rocelia Ruiz, of Chicago, is accused of suspended registration, expired registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle, following a traffic stop at 3:45 p.m. June 25, in the 500 block of Dundee Road. Police said an officer saw a 2015 white GMC Acadia with suspended and expired license plates. Ruiz’s court date is set for Aug. 5.

Suspended Driver’s License

Citlale Noveron Castro, of Wheeling, is accused of suspended registration, driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured motor vehicle, following a traffic stop at 8:11 p.m. June 25, at Landwehr and Willow roads. Police said an officer stopped a 2007 white Honda CR-V with suspended license plates. Noveron Castro had a suspended driver’s license, according to police. The court date is set for July 20.
