NORTHBROOK, IL — Back-to-school season has officially arrived in Northbrook, with high school students returning Thursday and younger students set to follow next week.
Glenbrook High School District 225 begins classes Aug. 13, while Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 and Northbrook School District 28 start Aug. 19. Northbrook School District 27 students return Aug. 20.
Here are some of the important dates for Northbrook families during the 2026-27 school year:
District 225's calendar lists Dec. 17 as the final day of the first semester, with students beginning the second semester Jan. 5.
District 30 has institute days Aug. 17 and 18 before grades 1-8 return Aug. 19. Preschool and kindergarten students begin the following day.
The district's full 2026-27 calendar, including holiday breaks and non-attendance days, is available on the District 30 website.
District 27's calendar includes teacher institute days Aug. 17-19 before students return Aug. 20.
Thanksgiving break is scheduled for Nov. 25-27, while winter break begins Dec. 21. Spring break begins March 22, with students returning March 29.
The calendar lists June 7 as the last possible school day when five emergency days are included, but May 28 is the scheduled final day if none are needed.
District 28 students in kindergarten through eighth grade begin with a full day Aug. 19, while Young Explorers students start Aug. 20.
Thanksgiving break runs Nov. 25-27, with winter break beginning Dec. 21 and classes resuming Jan. 4.
Spring break begins March 22, with classes resuming March 29. The district lists May 28 as the tentative last day without the use of emergency days.
