NORTHBROOK, IL — Following a three-month investigation, an arrest has been made from an October 2023 jewelry store burglary. According to police, Joel Kondic, of Lake Zurich, turned himself on Monday and was charged with commercial burglary.

On Oct. 12, 2023, police responded to a burglar alarm at the store in the 300 block of Skokie Boulevard. Police found the front doors to the store smashed, and some high-end watches had been stolen from a display case inside the store. At the time of the incident, police said 11 Shinola watches, valued at over $11,000, were stolen during the burglary.

Using surveillance footage from the store and surrounding businesses, police developed a suspect in Kondic. A search warrant was issued for his Lake Zurich residence, where several of the burglary proceeds were recovered, as well as crimes from other neighboring towns.
