Assistant to the Fire Chief Retires

NORTHBROOK, IL - Mark Ziebka, assistant to the fire chief for the Northbrook Fire Department, announced his retirement earlier this month after nearly 40 years with the department.

Ziebka began working for the village of Northbrook in 1978 and was assigned to the fire department a year later, according to a village news release. Over the years he has worked in several roles including software and hardware implementation.

He has been "an iconic figure" in the department for years, the release stated.

"His selfless service and positive attitude will be greatly missed.
