NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

WARRANT

Estaban Antonio Ybarra, 55, of Detroit, Michigan, is accused of having an outstanding warrant out of Dallas, and was arrested at 5:33 p.m. Dec. 8, after a vehicle they were driving committed a traffic violation in the 3100 block of Dundee Road. They were processed and turned over to the Cook County Sheriff's Office for further processing. There was no bond and a full extradition to Texas.

  • A Michelline Lane resident reported at 6:43 p.m. Dec. 2, several unauthorized bank accounts out of state had been opened using their information without permission.
  • A Valley Road resident called police at 1:23 a.m. Dec. 7, to report someone made fraudulent charges to their credit card accounts and had two new cell phones delivered.

RETAIL THEFT

  • An employee at Mariano's, 700 block of Skokie Boulevard, called police at 10 p.m. Dec. 2, to report a man wearing a face mask and a Bears' jacket entered the store and removed several types of bottled vodka and hot food from the store without paying for the items.
  • An employee at Best Buy, 1000 block of Willow Road, reported at 1:58 p.m. Dec. 4, two men, described as being in their mid-twenties, removed multiple security cameras from the store without paying for them. While exiting the store, they also ran into an employee. No injuries were reported to the employee.
  • An employee at Lowe's, 1000 block of Willow Road, called police at 10:09 a.m. Dec. 9, to report they were told by a customer that a man was seen running from the lumber area with two boxes of power tool kits to a waiting vehicle. The man did not pay for the items that they were carrying.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

A manager of a business reported at 2:32 p.m. Dec. 3, they were contracted to perform a service at a location in the 1800 block of Barberry Road and one of their employees arrived demanding payment for their work even though the work was incomplete. The employee was denied payment and became argumentative, making threatening statements, pushed the complainant, then left the area.

THEFT

A person called police at 7:08 p.m. Dec. 3, to report someone removed their unlocked 2005 dirt bike from the bike rack at Techny Prairie Activity Center, 100 block of Anets Drive. The bike was located a short time later, abandoned behind a tree in the park.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD

A Croyden Place resident reported at 10:46 a.m. Dec. 5, they found numerous fraudulent charges placed against their credit card account which they did not make or authorize.

FORGERY

An employee at Trader Joe's, 100 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5, a woman in their 20s presented a counterfeit $100 bill as payment for their purchase.

SUSPICIOUS TELEPHONE CALL

A Landwehr Road resident called police at 11:53 a.m. Dec. 7, to report they received a telephone call from a person claiming to be one of their grandsons, who was claiming that they were arrested and needed a large sum of money to be released. Complainant verified that the actual grandson had not been arrested prior to arranging for any money withdrawals and did not incur any financial loss.

UNLAWFUL USE OF CREDIT CARD

A Kingsley Circle resident reported at 2:50 p.m. Dec. 7, someone made two separate unauthorized purchases on their credit card account.
