Woman Accused Of Filling Garbage Bag With Stolen Meds: Blotter
The retail theft occurred at Mariano's: Northbrook Police Blotter.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
An employee at Sarpino's, 1300 block of Meadow, reported at 1:18 a.m. Nov. 29, two males were at the location for an extended period of time. The complainant asked the two men to leave. The employee locked the doors and the men began pounding on the glass.

- Nestor Bahena-Garcia, 33, of the 0-60 block of S. Branch Road, Northfield, is accused of disorderly conduct, and was arrested at the scene. He was released after posting bond. He is due in court on Dec. 29.
- Andrew J. Castillo, 33, of the 400 block of Hazelwood Lane, Glenview, is accused of disorderly conduct, and was arrested at the scene. He was released after posting bond. He is due in court on Dec. 29.
WARRANT
Zachary A. Schloemer, 32, of the 1300 block of Carolyn Court, Yorkville, is accused of having two outstanding arrest warrants out of DuPage County, and was arrested at 2:24 p.m. Nov. 30, following a property damage crash in the 2500 block of Windrush Lane. He was processed and released after posting a $1,000 bond. Schloemer was assigned court dates of Jan. 3 and Jan. 7 for the respective charges in DuPage County.

RETAIL THEFT
Anais Ortiz, 34, of the 4000 block of Crystal Street, Chicago, is accused of retail theft, and was arrested at 10:54 p.m. Dec. 1, at Mariano's, 700 block of Skokie Boulevard. A citizen contacted police to check on a female they saw who was crying and saying that she had been robbed. Officers located Ortiz, who was in possession of a garbage type bag full of medications. While speaking with Ortiz, officers learned that she had taken the medications from Mariano’s. Officers checked with the management at the Mariano’s store to verify that Ortiz had taken the items and learned that a large amount of over the counter medications were missing from the displays. Ortiz was released after posting bond and assigned a court date of Dec. 29.
- A customer at Sunset Foods, 1100 block of Church Street, reported at 5:45 p.m. Nov. 23, their wallet was taken by someone while they were shopping. The complainant also said that they were notified that one of their credit cards had been used.
- A customer at Whole Foods, 800 block of Willow Road, called police at 3:02 p.m. Nov. 24, to report a female wearing a long black colored jacket hat and mask, had removed a purse from their shopping cart. As the complainant was reporting the theft, they received notifications from their banks that attempts to use the cards had occurred in Glenview.
- A resident in the 2000 block of Maple reported at 8:34 a.m. Nov. 25, that during the overnight hours of Nov. 25, someone opened the back gate to their yard and removed a purple and silver colored bicycle. Police later located the bicycle in the area.
- A guest at the Sheraton Northbrook, 1100 block of Willow Road, reported at 11:55 a.m. Dec. 2, someone removed the catalytic convertor from their parked rental vehicle.
ATTEMPT TO ACQUIRE A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE
An employee at CVS Pharmacy, 900 block of Willow Road, reported at 8:09 p.m. Nov. 24, they received a telephone request for a prescription. The complainant followed up with the authorizing doctor and learned that the prescription was fraudulent. The order was not filled.
DISTURBANCE
A resident in the 3000 block of Cherry Lane called police at 7:17 p.m. Nov. 25, to report someone outside their residence yelling obscenities for a period of time. Officers arrived and the person left the area without incident.
RETAIL THEFT
An employee at Old Navy, 40 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 5:25 p.m. Nov. 27, a woman entered the store, removed a large bag from their purse and filled the bag with merchandise. They then left the store without paying for the items. The complainant said the woman had a device to cut the sensor tags off of clothing items.
FRAUD
An employee at Shopper's Find, 1500 block of Lake Cook Road, called police at 12:25 p.m. Nov. 29, to report they completed a sale for an item with a credit card. After the customer left the store, the complainant could not locate a record for the sale in the credit reader and they contacted the listed card member, who refused to provide any information regarding the sale.
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
An employee at CVS Pharmacy, 900 block of Willow Road, reported at 11:46 a.m. Dec. 1, a woman claiming to represent a physician’s office phoned in a prescription. The complainant called the physician’s office to verify the prescription and was told that the office did not phone in that prescription, and that the person whom the prescription was for was not a patient. The representative believed that this may have been called in by a former employee. The prescription was not filled or picked up.
COUNTERFEITING
An employee at Ruth's Chris, 900 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 10:04 p.m. Dec. 1, a restaurant hosted a holiday gathering for a group and when the bill was paid, a counterfeit $50 bill was included in the payment. The complainant contacted the person responsible for the gathering and valid payment was made.
