Beer and a Movie? New Liquor License Creates That Possibility in Northbrook
The Village Board's approval opens the door for AMC Theater at Northbrook Court to begin serving alcohol. Are you looking forward to that?

NORTHBROOK, IL — Movie-goers at AMC Theaters at Northbrook Court—at least those 21 and older—soon will be able to enjoy a beer or a cocktail while they're watching the latest Star Wars episode or superhero epic thanks to the Northbrook Village Board.
The board created a new liquor license Tuesday that will allow the theater, which is currently renovating its 14-screen facility at 1525 Lake Cook Road, to serve alcohol to customers, the Daily North Shore reports. The next step needed is for AMC to apply and be granted the license, the report added.
No date was given for when the theater will apply for the license or when it hopes to begin serving alcohol.

This license is just one more way AMC is trying to improve the movie-going experience at its Northbrook Court location, the North Shore reports. Along with serving beer and wine, the theater also will be adding recliner seating and more leg room. That means it will reduce from 3,350 to 1,184, with the biggest theater going from 450 seats to 167, and the smallest going from 140 to 54.
Although no completion date for the improvements has been announced, renovation work on the location's six first-floor theaters should be finished in a month, according to the North Shore. Work then will shift to the eight screens on the second floor, the report added.
