Break-In Reported At Business; Shopper's Wallet Snatched: Blotter

Bad checks, a car burglary and a shoplifter using the clearance bin on the Northbrook police blotter for the week of Aug. 18 to Aug. 24.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

RETAIL THEFT
Staff at the Walgreens, 1050 Waukegan Road, reported on the evening of Aug. 17 that, while reviewing security video, they noticed an unidentified man in his 30s took unspecified items from shelves and put them into the clearance section. A little while later he came back, picked up and walked out without paying for anything.

BURGLARY
Staff at Hel's Kitchen, 3027 Commercial Ave., reported on the morning of Aug. 19 that when they arrived to work they noticed someone had been inside the business. Several doors were unlocked, drawers were opened and an office had been entered sometime after 10 p.m. the prior night. An unspecified amount of cash was reported stolen.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICE
A Bridlewood Road resident reported that someone gave them a bad check on July 23, which later bounced.

FORGERY
A Cheapeake Lane resident reported on Aug. 19 that someone had charged two unauthorized checks to their checking account.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD
Someone made an unauthorized charge of nearly $330 at the Best Buy, 1027 Willow Road, on June 8.

THEFT
A shopper at the Trader Joe's, 127 Skokie Blvd, reported around 9 p.m. Aug. 20 that someone had stolen their wallet from a shopping cart and used one of their credit cards at several unspecified retail locations.

CAR BURGLARY
Someone got into a truck parked in the 300 block of Park Drive and stole a tool, police were told around 4:30 p.m. Aug. 21

ARRESTS

A 54-year-old Northbrook man was arrested around 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 22 and charged with driving with a suspended license after he was pulled over in the 1200 block of Cedar Lane by an officer who reported seeing him using and electronic device while driving.
