NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Refugio Salinas-Cruz, of the 400 block of 4th Street, Northfield, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, no valid driver's license, and was arrested at 8:36 p.m. March 25, at Willow Road and Charlie Court. He was released after posting $3,000 bond and was assigned a court date of April 26.

SPEEDING

James J. Karis is accused of speeding 35+ mph over the speed limit, and was arrested at 12:19 p.m. March 26, in the 900 block of Shermer Road. He was released after posting $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of April 25.

NO VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE

Julio Martinez, of the 600 block of Piper Lane, Prospect Heights, is accused of no valid driver's license, no insurance, no registration, and was arrested at 8:54 p.m. March 26, at Dundee and Landwehr roads. They were released after posting a $2,500 bond and were assigned a court date of April 26.

SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

  • Baher Saad, of the 5700 block of N. Campbell Avenue, Chicago, is accused of driving while license suspended, no insurance, and was arrested at 2:29 a.m. March 27, at Dundee and Portwine roads. They were released after posting a $2,500 bond and were assigned a court date of April 26.
  • Jorge L. Tosado, of the 2900 block of N. 74th Avenue, Elmwood Park, had a warrant out of Franklin Park for a suspended driver's license, bond forfeiture, and was arrested at 3:30 p.m. March 29, in the 1400 block of Landwehr Road. They were released after posting a $3,000 bond and were assigned a court date of April 28.
  • Israel Castro-Farfan, of the 100 block of Chariot Road, Wheeling, is accused of driving on a suspended driver's license, suspended registration, uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 8:27 p.m. March 30, at Willow and Founders. They were released after posting a $3,000 bond and were assigned a court date of April 26.

SUSPENDED REGISTRATION

Rashad A. Strong, of the 2900 block of 21st Place, North Chicago, is accused of having a suspended registration for no insurance, and was arrested at 6:57 p.m. March 27, at Lake Cook and Lee roads. They were released after posting a $3,000 bond and were assigned a court date of April 26.

RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE

Police were notified of a stolen vehicle that was captured by a license plate readers. Officers located the vehicle in a parking lot at 9:07 a.m. March 28, at Skokie Boulevard and Dundee Road. Two people were located inside the vehicle, along with drug paraphernalia, according to police.

  • Nazareen Chambers, of the 200 block of Richmond Avenue, Evanston, is accused of criminal trespass to a vehicle, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and was arrested. They were released after posting a $1,000 bond and were assigned a court date of April 21.
  • Eric S. Campos-Ferris, of the 200 block of Richmond Avenue, Evanston, is accused of criminal trespass to a vehicle, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and was arrested. They were released after posting a $1,000 bond and were assigned a court date of April 21.

INCIDENTS

RECOVERED STOLEN AUTO

Police were notified of a stolen vehicle at 2:30 p.m. March 25, that was captured by a license plate reader. The vehicle crashed in Deerfield and was then recovered. Four people were apprehended.

RETAIL THEFT

  • An employee at CVS Pharmacy, 900 block of Willow Road, reported at 3:14 p.m. March 25, a customer saw a male conceal merchandise and then exit the store.
  • An employee at Nordstrom Rack, 100 block of Skokie Boulevard, called police at 8:20 p.m. March 26, to report someone concealed multiple pieces of merchandise and left the store.
  • A person reported at 10:14 a.m. March 28, someone unloaded a shopping cart full of unpaid merchandises into a vehicle in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard and then left the area.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE

  • A person at Pinstripes, 1000 block of Willow Road, called police at 10:56 p.m. March 25, to report someone removed the catalytic converter from his vehicle.
  • A person at Josh's Hot Dogs, 800 block of Sanders road, reported at 12:28 p.m. March 26, someone removed the catalytic converter from two vehicles.
  • A person at REI, 800 block of Willow Road, called police at 7:40 p.m. March 26, to report someone removed the catalytic converter from the vehicle.

DRUG POSSESSION

A person is accused of speeding, no driver's license, being uninsured, unlawful possession of cannabis, improper lane usage, no valid registration, and was cited at 7:58 a.m. March 26, in the 2800 block of Willow Road. They were released after posting $2,500 bond and were assigned a court date of April 25.

SUSPENDED REGISTRATION

A Chicago resident is accused of driving on a suspended registration, and was cited at 2:02 a.m. March 27, at Willow and Founders. They were released after posting a $1,000 bond and were assigned a court date of April 25.

BURGLARY

  • An employee at Ultimo Motors, 1800 block of Holste Road, reported at 7:18 a.m. March 27, someone entered the business through a broken window and took multiple items from the business.
  • An employee at Midwest Performance Cars, 1800 block of Holste Road, called police at 7:18 a.m March 27, to report someone entered the business without permission.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICE

A Chapel Court resident called police at noon March 27, to report someone altered and cashed a check.

FRAUD

A Skokie Boulevard resident reported at 2:11 p.m. March 29, they had deposited money into a Bitcoin that was determined to be fraudulent.
