Burglars Claim Pipe Damage To Gain Entry: Northbrook Blotter
Pursues stolen in parking lot smash-and-grabs, paint snatched in hardware store repair theft, Northbrook Police Blotter: Dec. 29 - Jan. 4

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and a list of those arrested. Criminal charges are often dropped or reduced and represent merely accusations by the state. An arrest does not mean a person is guilty, and all persons named are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Someone broke the front passenger window of a car parked at the YMCA in the 2700 block of Techny Road, police were told at 6:35 p.m. on Dec. 28.

Another patron reported a purse was stolen from a car parked at the YMCA the same day after breaking out the rear passenger side window, police were told at 7:48 p.m..
RETAIL THEFT
An employee of Ace Hardware, in the 1900 block of Cherry Lane, reported that shortly before 4:30 p.m. Dec. 29 that someone came to the store to pick up two screens that had been repaired. While there, the person also reportedly decided to purchase a quart of paint. When the time came to pay, the person told the cashier they had forgotten a wallet in the car, but then the person, took the items with them and never returned to pay the cashier. Police did not provide any description of the person.
RUSE BURGLARY
Three burglars pretending to be utility workers reportedly stole jewelry and cash from a home in the 2500 block of Campden Lane, a resident reported at 4:10 p.m. on Jan. 1. A man knocked on the door and said that a water pipe had been damaged "while snow plowing" and the water pressure needed to be checked.
FRAUD
Someone made several unauthorized financial transactions in Wisconsin using the account of a resident of the 3700 block of Charles Drive, police were told on the afternoon of Jan. 1.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident of the 1900 block of Redwood Lane reported on the afternoon of Jan. 3 that someone had tried to open an unauthorized credit account in their name.

On the evening of Jan. 3, a resident of the 1200 block of Mount Vernon Terrace reported that someone opened two unauthorized accounts using their identity.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Tia V. Robinson, 27, of the 1100 block of Miller Lane, Buffalo Grove, was arrested at 12:50 a.m. on Jan. 1 and charged with driving under the influence. Police on patrol said they witnessed her commit a traffic offense, pulled her over and determined she was impaired. She was also issued citations for speeding, improper lane usage and not having insurance.
A 59-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 11:55 p.m. on Jan. 2 and charged with driving with a revoked license after police who pulled him over for an equipment violation determined his license had been revoked. He was also ticketed for driving without a red taillight.
