Bus Driver Makes Inappropriate Comments: Northbrook Police Blotter
The remarks were made to an adult student on the bus earlier this week, according to police.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Kevin D. Mayen, of Skokie, is accused of improper lane usage driving under the influence, illegal transportation of alcohol, and was arrested at 12:39 a.m. May 18, at Waukegan and Dundee roads. A court date of June 6 was assigned.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
Thomas Wade Jr., of Waukegan, is accused of disorderly conduct, and was arrested at 8:29 p.m. May 20, in the 2300 block of Shermer Road. Police said Wade, who was a driver for a school bus, made inappropriate comments to an adult student on the bus. A court date of June 30 was assigned.

INCIDENTS
PHONE SCAM
A Center Avenue resident reported at 6:08 p.m. May 16, receiving a phone call from someone stating they were a law enforcement officer. The caller told the complainant he had two outstanding citations that he never addressed and the fine on them was $8,000. Even though the complainant never received any tickets, he felt compelled to comply with the caller. He was instructed to withdraw the $8,000 and deposit it into a Bitcoin machine. After he deposited the money, he was supplied with new instructions, but the caller hung up. The complainant realized it was a scam after the phone call disconnected.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A resident of the 4000 block of Dundee Road called police at 6:44 p.m. May 16, to report three items had been stolen after she left the house. Two tote bags and a foldable lawn chair were missing when she returned. She believed someone was able to unlock the garage using the keypad lock.
FACEBOOK SCAM
A Basswood Drive resident called police at 3:39 p.m. May 19, to report someone had messaged him via Facebook. The person's name was similar to an old friend, so he called her. They talked for some time and the person convinced the complainant to apply for an award, but it had an application fee. The complainant agreed to pay the fee of $3,750. After he paid the fee, she asked him to supply her with two Apple gift cards, with the promise that she would pay him back. The complainant complied and bought her two $2,000 gift cards. After a few days, the female and her associate asked for $40,000 to assist with the award application the complainant thought he had submitted. He advised them he didn’t have that kind of money and hung up. The complainant realized it was a scam and the female he was speaking to was not an old friend, but someone posing as her.
THEFT
- A citizen reported at 10:31 p.m. May 21, he had been exercising at his fitness center. He accidentally left his Air pod case on a fitness machine and walked away. When he returned, it was stolen. The case was worth $175.
- A citizen reported at 3:11 p.m. May 22, he had exited a movie theater but forgot to grab his handbag containing his wallet. When he returned to retrieve it, the theater was closed. He returned the next day and spoke to the staff, but they said no one had turned in the handbag. The complainant’s wallet contained $1,700, credit cards and his IDs.
PICKPOCKET THEFT
A citizen reported at 5:08 p.m. May 22, she had her cell phone in her pocket while shopping at a store in the 1000 block of Willow Road. When she left the store, she noticed her cell phone was missing from her pocket. She did notice a male using a similar phone after hers was missing, but she didn’t know if that was her stolen phone or his
