CA Man Nabbed As Part Of Residential Burglary Group: Northbrook P.D.

Police believe the California man is part of a South American group that targets larger homes near wooded areas and golf courses.

NORTHBROOK, IL — As police continue to investigate a string of residential burglaries in recent years that fit a similar pattern, an arrest has been made in one that occurred in April. Tommy Gonzalez Calvieres, 23, of California, is accused of residential burglary, and was arrested in Boone County, Illinois.

Police believe Gonzalez Calvieres is part of a South American group that has been targeting larger homes adjacent to wooded areas and golf courses. In this specific case, police were investigating a residential burglary that occurred on April 21 in the 1100 block of Chewton Glen. An arrest warrant was issued for Gonzalez Calvieres and he was taken into custody.

Police said the crime fits the pattern because the offender was targeting a larger home adjacent to wooded areas and golf courses. These burglaries typically take place between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. Police are encouraging residents to lock all exterior doors and limit any access to second story windows and doors. In addition, residents should report any suspicious behavior as part of the "See Something, Say Something" program.

Residents who plan to be away for an extended period of time, they are encouraged to utilize the Police Department's House Watch Program via the Village website.
