Cardboard Regatta To Set Sail in Northbrook

A cardboard boat race is planned for August 15 at the Northbrook Sports Center Pool, according to a Northbrook Park District news release.
Captains of the boats will be two-person teams limited to those aged 6-18, but more are allowed to help with the construction of the vessels, including adults.

“It’s a creative way of having fun with other people in the community,” said Ethan Williams, Leisure Services Supervisor with the Park District. “We will present awards to the teams that build the best cardboard boats to sail the Sports Center Pool, and we hope to see a lot of creativity.”
Awards will be presented to the fastest boat, the boat with the most creative design, the best-dressed boat passengers and the finest sinking.

The fee to enter the regatta is $25/ two-person team; the registration deadline is Monday, August 10.
