Check out Halloween and holiday themed skating events in Northbrook

This fall and winter, families will have a variety of cool opportunities to ice skate during lively themed events at the Northbrook Sports Center.

“As the weather changes, we try to provide fun skating opportunities for families,” said Northbrook Sports Center Manager Joey Sanchez. “We love seeing our participants get into the spirit of Halloween and enjoy the holidays on the ice.”
First, wear your best and scariest Halloween costumes to glide on the ice during Kooky Spooky Skate on Oct. 26.
Then, enjoy Cosmic Skate evenings, once a month from November through February, where you can show off your best moves to the tune of DJ music, and have fun with games and activities for all ages.
Finally, spark your holiday spirit with Skate with Santa in December, when our special guest from the North Pole will show he can do a whole lot more than just ride a sleigh.
A Northbrook Park District facility, the Northbrook Sports Center houses two year-round NHL-sized ice rinks, a concession stand and skate rental for $4.
The upcoming lineup of special skating events is as follows:
• Kooky Spooky Skate is from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26. Admission is $5 for skaters wearing costumes; otherwise, it’s $6 for youth and $7 for adults.
• Cosmic Skate takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday Nov. 8, Dec. 13, Jan. 10 and Feb. 7. Admission is $8 per person.
• Skate with Santa is from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21. Admission is $6 for youth and $7 for adults.
The Sports Center also welcomes everyone, and especially beginners who want to test their way on the ice, to its Skating for Free event on Saturday, Nov. 23, with time slots from 1:30 to 2 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. For more information, visit nbparks.org or call (847) 291-2993.
