Christmas 2017: What's Open, What's Closed In Northbrook

NORTHBROOK, IL — The Christmas holiday is fast approaching, and that means people will be out and about shopping, picking out presents and visiting family. While some people — including emergency personnel and employees at some retail stores — will be working on the holiday, many area businesses and offices will be closed.

Here's list of what's open and what's closed in Northbrook for Christmas and New Year's 2017.

• Post office: Closed
• Federal offices: Closed
• Banks: Closed
• Gas stations: Open
• Village Hall: Front desk closes at 4:30 p.m. through Jan. 2
• Refuse Collection: Normal pickups will be delayed by one day.
• Northbrook Schools: Closed for winter break through Jan. 8.
• Northbrook Public Library: Closed on Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1.
• Northbrook Park District:
  • Northbrook Sports Center: Closed Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1
  • Leisure Center: Closed Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1
  • Village Green Center: Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1
• Northbrook Court: Closed Dec. 25, Open Jan. 1
• Retail stores: Some will be closed, some will be open, but check the hours before you go.
