ComEd To Update Residents On Northbrook Electricity Issues

The power company will provide an update on several recent outages and a power surge in Northbrook at Tuesday's village board meeting.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Representatives from ComEd will provide an update on recent electricity outages and power surges to Northbrook residents and trustees at Tuesday's village board meeting. Several outages reported earlier this week are not related to an incident earlier this month that damaged property in some Northbrook homes, according to village officials.

When a ComEd power line fell on Sept. 4, it made contact with another line, village officials said. That led to power surge in some Northbrook homes. Some appliances, air conditioners, furnaces, electric meters and other items were damaged as a result, according to a release. ComEd told the village its team is investigating what occurred.

Several outages were also reported Tuesday among ComEd customers in Northbrook, according to the village. The power company said the blackouts were unrelated to the Sept. 4 incident.
