Concert Ticket Scam Results In Bank Fraud: Northbrook Police Blotter
A person trying to buy concert tickets instead had $9,000 stolen from one of their bank accounts.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Jonathan P. Corkery, of Highland Park, is accused of driving under the influence, speeding (47 mph in a 35 mph zone), and was arrested at 7:45 p.m. Aug. 10, at Willow and Shermer roads. Police said that during an inventory of Corkery’s vehicle, they found bottles containing cannabis and pills marked hydrocodone. A court date of Aug. 30 was assigned.

NO DRIVER'S LICENSE
Yosef N. Perlow, of Northbrook, is accused of speeding (71 mph in a 40 mph zone), disobeying a stop sign, no valid driver's license, and was arrested at 3:34 a.m. Aug. 11, at Kayjay Drive and Vicki Lane. A court date of Aug. 30 was assigned.

SUSPENDED REGISTRATION
- Windy Diaz Bustos, of Chicago, is accused of having a suspended registration, no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 11:48 a.m. Aug. 14, at Willow and Waukegan roads. A court date of Aug. 30 was assigned.
- Ciera M. Faulkner-Spikings, of Willowbrook, is accused of having a suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 5:12 p.m. Aug. 14, at Lake Cook and Lee roads. A court date of Sept. 5 was assigned.
- Mario Martinez-Manuel, of Chicago, is accused of having a suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 8:22 a.m. Aug. 15, at Dundee and Landwehr roads. A court date of Sept. 20 was assigned.
RETAIL THEFT
A license plate recognition camera indicated at 2:44 p.m. Aug. 15, that a gray Ford was traveling on Skokie Boulevard near Dundee Road that had been involved in retail thefts in a neighboring town. When the officer arrived, he noticed the vehicle parked in front of a retail store. As the officer approached the store, he could hear the security alarms going off. The officer saw one of the defendants, Corell Foster, place wire cutters on the ground and try to hide them. The officer also saw the second defendant, Tremell Brown, and recognized him from a previous arrest. Brown originally gave a false name, but the officers were able to determine his real name and found active arrest warrants out of Geneva (retail theft) and Waukegan (retail theft) for him. It was determined that they were cutting the security devices off of clothing, then placing the clothing in foil wrapped bags to bypass the security. The clothing that they attempted to steal was valued at $1974.97. Foster and Brown were charged with felony retail theft, obstructing justice, possession of theft cutting device, criminal damage to property. A court date of Sept. 13 was assigned. Brown was turned over to Geneva PD because of his arrest warrant.

INCIDENTS
RETAIL THEFT
The loss prevention staff at a store in the 800 block of Willow Road reported at 1:07 p.m. Aug. 13, a person had walked into their retail store and grabbed a large basket. The person placed five sets of bed linens and a bath shop item into the basket. The person walked out of the store without paying for any of the items. They fled in a maroon Dodge Caravan.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
A resident in the 1100 block of Whitfield Road reported at 8 a.m. Aug. 14, attempting to gain access to gain access to his 2016 blue Acura. The officer found fresh scratches near the driver’s side door trim, and a trim piece near the window was missing.
INTERNET/PHONE SCAM
A Plymouth Lane resident reported at 3:53 p.m. Aug. 14, she had attempted to utilize a Google search for a concert ticket purchasing agency due to an issue with the tickets she bought. She thought she had found the website and clicked on the link. She was instructed to call a phone number. When she did, a person with a thick accent stated he would be able to help her. He asked for her credit card information, which she provided him. During the call, she checked her account and noticed she was reimbursed the money, but an additional $9,000 as well. The person said that was an error, and requested her to withdraw the $9,000 and put it back in an ATM for him. The complainant became suspicious and refused to. The person became verbally abusive and hung up. When she called her credit card company to report a possible fraud, they advised her the $9,000 was actually taken from another account she had.
