Customer Bites Officer, Flees CVS Prior To Arrest: Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

BATTERY

James Howard, 23, of the 4100 block of Rowley Court, Streamwood, is accused of aggravated battery to a peace officer, having an outstanding warrant for their arrest out of Cook County, and was arrested at 10:04 p.m. Oct. 17, at CVS, 900 block of Willow Road. Officers had arrived at CVS regarding another matter involving Howard. Upon being notified of the warrant, he attempted to flee on foot, and in so doing, struck and bit one of the officers. There was no bond and he was assigned a court date of Nov. 21.

WARRANT

Shandell Mexican-Bollock, 26, of Highland, Indiana, is accused of having an outstanding warrant from the state police, and was arrested at 2:59 a.m. Oct. 19, after police responded to the Sheraton Chicago Northbrook, 1100 block of Willow Road, for a disturbance. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond and was assigned a court date of Nov. 2.

ASSAULT

Marcus H. Spandiary, 41, of the 4600 block of N. Avers, Chicago, is accused of assault, and was arrested at 10:35 a.m. Oct. 19, following a disturbance call involving a customer at Sheraton Chicago Northbrook, 1100 block of Willow Road. The customer left the location initially without incident, but then later returned and threatened the complainant. He was released after posting a $1,500 bond and assigned a court date of Nov. 4.

INCIDENTS

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCE

An officer on a routine patrol at 11:23 p.m. Oct. 14, saw a vehicle parked in the dealership parking lot with a tailgate illuminated at Steve Foley Cadillac, 100 block of Skokie Boulevard. No entry appeared to have been made to the vehicle.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

  • A resident of North Shore Place, 1000 block of Sunset Ridge, reported at 11:23 p.m. Oct. 14, someone broke a rear window on their vehicle. Complainant did not believe that entry was made to the vehicle.
  • A person called police at 1:57 p.m. Oct. 15, to report someone punctured a vehicle tire and scratched the vehicle in the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard.

UNWANTED PERSON

An employee at Techny Prairie Activity Center reported at 4:05 p.m. Oct. 15, someone at the fitness center was refusing to wear a mask and when asked to wear a mask, the person became argumentative. Complainant will follow up with Park District Administration for further action.

RETAIL THEFT

An employee at Lisa's Boutique, 4100 block of Dundee Road, reported at 9:12 p.m. Oct. 15, that a known customer had removed an item from the store without paying for the item. Investigation is pending.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A Michelline Lane resident called police at 11:04 a.m. Oct. 16, to report they received notification that their information was used without their permission to open several new accounts.
  • An Arbeleda Lane resident reported at 12:01 p.m. Oct. 20, someone used their information to obtain a loan without their permission.

ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE

A customer at Mariano's, 700 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 1:38 p.m. Oct. 16, while they were attempting to park, an unknown female deliberately pushed their shopping cart into the rear of the complainant’s vehicle, causing scratches.

INTOXICATED PERSON

An employee of a business in the 3500 block of Dundee Road called police at 6:53 p.m. Oct. 16, to report a male was intoxicated and was causing a disturbance with other customers. Officers made contact with the person, who was upset about an order that they had placed not being correct.

THREATENING TELEPHONE CALL

A Northbrook police dispatcher received a telephone call at 12:16 a.m. Oct. 17, in the dispatch center, 2800 block of Dundee Road, someone making several threats toward police officers.

THEFT

  • A resident in the 800 block of Sutton Drive reported at 12:45 p.m. Oct. 17 someone removed several tools and supplies for renovation work from the residence without permission.
  • An employee at Heritage Oak Golf Course, 3500 block of Dundee Road, called police at 1:06 p.m. Oct. 20, to report a customer bought a bucket of range balls then put them in their bag and left the area.
  • A Valencia Drive resident reported at 11:03 a.m. Oct. 21, they agreed to rent an apartment from an advertisement. Once terms were agreed upon, the complainant sent a monetary deposit to the landlord. The complainant has not been able to contact the reported landlord since funds were sent.

THEFT FROM AUTO

  • A resident in the 900 block of Western Avenue called police to report that between Oct. 15 and Oct. 18, someone removed the catalytic convertor from their vehicle while it was parked in their driveway.
  • A person at Berhnard Woodwork, 3600 block of Woodhead Drive, reported that between Oct. 19 and Oct. 21, someone removed the catalytic convertor from their vehicle.

THREATS

An employee at CVS, 900 block of Willow Road, reported at 12:43 p.m. Oct. 20, a customer became upset when they were advised what their co-pay for a prescription was. The customer reluctantly paid for the item, then left the store.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

An employee at Prairie Park, 1700 block of Techny Road, called police at 6:50 p.m. Oct. 20, to report someone placed new graffiti in the gazebo.
