Neighbor Pours Soapy Water On Dog-Sitter: Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

FIREARM CONCEALED CARRY ACT VIOLATION

Ryan Starks, 28, of the 3400 block of S. Prairie Avenue, Chicago, is accused of Firearm Concealed Carry Act violation, driving under the influence, improper parking on a roadway, and was arrested at 11:41 p.m. Oct. 10, in the 1000 block of Dundee Road. He was released after posting a $3,000 bond and assigned a court date of Nov. 10.

SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Lucy A. Atunde, 37, is accused of driving while license suspended, improper lighting (one headlamp), and was arrested at 10:31 p.m. Oct. 11, at Dundee Road and Charlemagne Drive. She was released after posting a $2,500 bond and assigned a court date of Oct. 11.

INCIDENTS

BURGLARY TO VEHICLE

  • A customer at Lifetime Fitness, 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 9:07 p.m. Oct. 7, when they returned to their unlocked vehicle, they found that someone had removed a bag that was left on a seat within the vehicle.
  • A person called police at 1:26 p.m. Oct. 11, to report that when they returned to their vehicle at Wood Oaks Park, 1100 block of Sanders, they saw a broken front-side window and a purse had been removed from within the vehicle.

HARASSMENT

A Landwehr Road resident called police at 8:03 p.m. Oct. 8, to report they had been receiving calls and voicemails from a restricted number. The calls appear to be regarding a purchase that the complainant had made.

RETAIL THEFT

  • An employee at Ulta, 900 block of Willow Road, reported at 12:53 p.m. Oct. 9, three females and one male entered the store and proceeded to the fragrance aisle with carts. Each person was seen placing numerous items in the carts, then running out of the store without paying for the items to a waiting vehicle.
  • An employee at Dick's Sporting Goods, 200 block of Skokie Boulevard, called police at 4:06 p.m. Oct. 10, to report someone brought numerous items to a register to purchase them, then decided not to complete the purchase. After they left the store, the complainant found that several clothing items had been taken without being paid for.
  • An employee at Dick's Sporting Goods, 200 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 5:11 p.m. Oct. 11, someone selected several items from a display area, then returned them for credit without having purchased them. The subject then made a purchase of clothing items using the store credit that was obtained.
  • An employee at DSW, 100 block of Skokie Boulevard, called police at 5:59 p.m. Oct. 13, to report a male wearing a face mask, entered the store, filled two bags with boots and departed the store without paying for the items.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

An employee at Home Goods, 800 block of Willow Road, called police at 6:42 p.m. Oct. 9, to report they asked a female to leave the store because they were not complying with the mask mandate. The person, after being escorted from the store, expressed their displeasure with the mandate and the store policy.

NEIGHBOR PROBLEM

A person reported at 6:48 p.m. Oct. 9, that while dog-sitting for a friend in the 1900 block of Cherry Lane, a neighbor above where they were, poured soapy water over their balcony onto the complainant. An officer attempted to make contact with the resident regarding the incident but was unable to.

THEFT

  • A customer at Mariano's, 700 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 6:51 p.m. Oct. 9, when attempting to pay for items, they found that their wallet was missing. The complainant, shortly after realizing that their wallet was missing, began to receive notifications from their credit card accounts that several large purchases had been made without their permission.
  • A person called police to report someone removed equipment from a flatbed trailer without permission between Oct. 11 and Oct. 12 at Divine Word, 2000 block of Waukegan Road.

UNWANTED PERSON

An employee at Apple, 1500 block of Lake Cook Road, called police at 1:46 p.m. Oct. 10, to report a customer refused to comply with the mask mandate and was refusing to leave the store when requested. The person left the store prior to officer’s arrival.

IDENTITY THEFT

A Voltz Court resident reported at 10:55 a.m. Oct. 11, someone used their information to open two credit accounts without their permission.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS TO AUTO

A customer at Mariano's, 700 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 4:19 p.m. Oct. 11, that upon returning to their vehicle, they found the doors unlocked and the contents of the rear of the vehicle moved around. The complainant also located several receipts that did not belong to them.

ASSAULT

A person called police at 5:42 p.m. Oct. 12, to report that while they were walking in the dock area at Lowe's, 1000 block of Willow Road, they were confronted by a male who began yelling and threatening them. After the confrontation, the subject left the area in their vehicle.

COUNTERFEITING

An employee at Walgreens, 1000 block of Waukegan Road reported that someone presented four counterfeit $20 bills on Oct. 13 to a store clerk for a purchase

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

An officer on a routine patrol at 11:12 p.m. Oct. 13, found graffiti within the park at Village Green, 1800 block of Walters.
