D28 Band Director Named Outstanding Educator
Northbrook Junior High's band director has won an award for outstanding music teachers.

NORTHBROOK, IL — A band director at a Northbrook middle school was given an award for outstanding music educators at a ceremony earlier this month. Greg Scapillato, who directs the band at Northbrook Junior High, was a winner of a 2017 Chicagoland Outstanding Music Educator Award.
The award, presented by the Quinlan & Fabish Music Company, recognizes excellence among area educators in the field of music. Scapillato was nominated by one or more of his peers and selected by a committee established by Quinlan & Fabish, which includes previous winners, before being recognized at an award ceremony June 13. This year, Scapillato was one of five music educators to receive one of the awards, which have been presented annually since 1989.

“This recognition is made possible by the outstanding support for music education in District 28 by the administration, faculty, and - most importantly - the community, including our parents and students,” Scapillato said at the time.
