Death of Attorney in Northbrook Office Ruled Homicide

NORTHBROOK, IL - The death of 36-year-old Jigar K. Patel, the man found dead in an office building in downtown Northbrook Wednesday has been ruled a homicide. Patel was found deceased in his office in the 1300 block of Shermer Road in Northbrook around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, police said. The Medical Examiner's Office ruled the death a homicide on Friday.

Patel was an attorney from Prospect Heights, according to a Chicago Tribune report. He was the founder of the JKP Law Firm and specializes in real estate and business law.

The crime is now under investigation by the Northbrook police and the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force.

Police have said they believe the death is "an isolated incident" and that there is no threat to the community.
