Death At Northbrook Mortgage Firm Ruled Accidental Drug Toxicity

NORTHBROOK, IL — The cause of death of a 37-year-old man, found dead in July at a mortgage brokerage office he was employed at, has been released. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, Anatoly Spivak, of Northbrook, died from combined drug toxicity (fentanyl, acetyl fentanyl, despropionyl fentanyl and cocaine).

Spivak had stopped breathing, and resuscitation attempts failed when police arrived at around 12:30 a.m. July 20, police said at the time. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A person was arrested at the scene, according to eyewitnesses. The Northbrook Police Department confirmed with Patch in July that a person was transported to the police station as part of an investigation, but was released. There were no signs of violence at the scene, according to police.

Spivak's LinkedIn profile states he was a senior loan consultant at the mortgage brokerage firm. A GoFundMe raised nearly $30,000 "to cover funeral expenses and to help get his [Spivak's] family back on their feet after this tragic loss." GoFundMe is a Patch promotional partner.
