Defaced Gun's Discovery Leads To Arrest: Northbrook Crime Reports

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and a list of those arrested. Criminal charges are often dropped or reduced and represent merely accusations by the state. An arrest does not mean a person is guilty, and all persons named are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

On Nov. 3, a woman or girl reportedly walked out of the Container Store in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard on with a shopping cart containing sweater boxes of various sizes and a garment rack.

On Nov. 4, police said a pair of suspects, one man and one woman, took two Chanel brand purses from the Nieman Marcus store in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road without paying for them.

On Nov. 5, a resident in the 2500 block of Woodlawn Road reported around 11:15 a.m. that a man or boy in a hoodie removed a package from their front step.
THEFT
On Nov. 6, someone stole several pieces of outgoing mail from a resident's mailbox in the 4500 block of Deer Trail Court between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.
HOME BURGLARY
On Nov. 6, a resident in the 500 block of Volz Road reported that someone entered their home and stole a flat-screen TV and damaged the interior sometime during the previous overnight hours.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident in the 23000 block of Greenview Road reported that someone opened up three unauthorized US Bank accounts in their name starting in July 2017.
DECEPTIVE PRACTICE
A person in the 600 block of Dundee Road reported that someone cashed several fraudulent checks from their account at various bank locations around Oct. 20.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Aaron J. Dyer, 25, of the 1500 block of West Birchwood Avenue, Chicago, was arrested Nov. 3 at 1:25 a.m. near the intersection of Sunset Ridge Road and Southgate Drive and charged with defacing the identifying marks off of a firearm and possessing a gun without a license. Police said an officer on routine patrol noticed a vehicle parked in an intersection with Dyer standing outside of it. Police said there were also several other people in the vehicle, and the officer asked them all to get out of the car. When the officer searched the car, a holstered handgun was found in the glovebox and Dyer reportedly admitted to having been given the weapon earlier by someone else.
David Sung Kwon Yoo, 41, of the 3600 block of Pebble Beach Road, was arrested at the intersection of Dundee Road and Western Avenue on Nov. 6 at 2:46 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08. He was also issued citations for speeding, improper lane usage and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. Police said he was pulled over after an officer witnessed him committing several traffic offenses.
A 26-year-old Wheeling man was arrested Nov. 6 at 7:54 p.m. near the intersection of Willow and Glenview roads and charged with driving with a revoked license without insurance. He was also issued a citation for unlawful use of an electronic device.
Alejandro Reyes-Serna, 30, of the 5100 block of South Marshfield Avenue, Chicago, was arrested Nov. 6 at 4:23 p.m. at a business in the 1600 block of Techny Road. Police were told he hit a person in the face and kicked them several times.
