Tire Falls Off Car Of Driver Charged With DUI: Northbrook Crimes

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and a list of those arrested. Criminal charges are often dropped or reduced and represent merely accusations by the state. An arrest does not mean a person is guilty, and all persons named are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Someone reportedly stole a cell phone from an office at the Container Store in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard on Oct. 27 at 4:10 p.m.

On Oct. 31 at 3:31 p.m., a man or boy was seen on security video footage picking up merchandise at the store and then taking it to the checkout for a refund.
CAR BURGLARY
On Nov. 1 at 7:12 p.m., the owner of a truck told police someone may have broken into it while he was shopping in the 1000 block of Willow Road. He said when he was packing it up after work he noticed the rear passenger side door had been punched and some tools were missing.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Alejandro Victor, 28, of the 10400 block of Carol Court, Rosemont, was arrested at the intersection of Willow and Shermer roads on Oct. 27 at 9 p.m. after police responded to a report of a traffic crash and determined he had been intoxicated while driving. He was charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, driving without insurance and issued a citation for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
A 30-year-old Chicago woman was arrested on Oct. 27 at 7:38 p.m. at the intersection of Dundee Road and Skokie Boulevard and charged with driving on a suspended license after she was pulled over for a traffic offense. She was also charged with driving without insurance and with an expired registration.
A 37-year-old Skokie man was arrested on Oct. 27 at 11:51 p.m. at I-294 and Willow Road and charged with driving on while license suspended. An officer on patrol noticed him commit a traffic offense, pulled over his car and realized his license had been suspended. The man was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.
Orlando D. Lofton, 19, and a juvenile, were arrested Oct. 28 around 2:45 p.m. after allegedly robbing Unique Nails, in the 1500 block of Shermer Road, and fleeing, Police said they were called to the nail shop, where they were told two armed robbers entered the salon and demanded personal items from customers. The robbers also took money from the register before fleeing in a vehicle. Lofton and a juvenile alleged accomplice were eventually arrested in Niles.

Hannah L. Corey, 21, of the 1000 block of North Lake Shore Drive, Round Lake Beach, was arrested Oct. 31 at 9:26 p.m. in the 1300 block of Shermer Road and charged with drunk driving after police pulled her over for driving very slowly with a flat tire. Not only was she driving slowly, one of her tires had fallen off and was lying in the road. An officer removed the tire from the roadway and caught up her her vehicle at a parking lot in the 1300 block of Meadow Road. While speaking to her, the officer said, she smelled strongly of alcohol. She was charged with DUI and issued a citation for driving with an unsafe tire.
Jonathan I. Schwimmer, 33, of the 1500 block of Suzann Terrace, was arrested Nov. 2 at 7:34 a.m. after police responded to traffic crash at Voltz and Waukegan roads in which he had been involved. Police said he left the scene but had left his insurance card behind. Officers found the man at his home nearby and said he appeared to be under the influence. He was also issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
