District 30 Kids’ Lemonade Stand Helps to Support Families in Crisis

Leave it to District 30's children, who keep "turning lemons into lemonade" to raise funds for a good cause! First it was the Maple Summer School Service Learning students, who have been hosting lemonade stands and other fundraisers for the past five weeks.

Most recently, it is the the Krzus family, who were stationed in front of Wescott Park on July 10, selling lemonade to raise funds for "Kim's Cancer Foundation." The funds will be used to help families during a medical crisis. Kim's Cancer Foundation was established in honor of a April Krzus’ sister, who passed away from cancer.

Ms. Krzus said, “My sister Kim was an incrediable women! One of the biggest areas she said was hard to keep up with during her chemotherapy and radiation sessions was house cleaning. My other two sisters, myself and my mom hired a cleaning service for her so she didn't have to worry about it."

"After she passed away we all wanted to keep her name alive in some way. That's how we came up with raising money for moms who are going through chemo and have family to still take care. We wanted to give them free cleaning while they are going through all the sessions. The girls came up with hosting a lemonade stand as a way for kids to raise money towards her foundation. I love their determination and that they can still be a part of helping others!”
