Door Glass Shattered While Resident Home: Northbrook Police Blotter

The resident said the glass to her front door was shattered while she was home in the 1800 block of Summerton Place.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

SUSPENDED REGISTRATION

  • Veronica Gutman, of Evanston, is accused of driving with a defective headlight, suspended registration, expired registration, and was arrested at 10:11 p.m. Jan. 12, in the 2600 block of Dundee Road. A court date of March 1 was assigned.
  • A Lake Bluff resident is accused of driving with a suspended registration, and was arrested at 6:40 p.m. Jan. 13, in the 700 block of Waukegan Road. A court date of Feb. 24 was assigned.

SUSPENDED/REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE

  • Vivian Sandoval, of Chicago, is accused of having an expired registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, driving while license suspended, and was arrested at 12:09 p.m. Jan. 13, in the 2800 block of Techny Road. A court date of Feb. 28 was assigned.
  • Carla L. Strunga, of Carol Stream, had a warrant out of DuPage County for driving with a suspended license, and was arrested at 7:07 a.m. Jan. 17, at Pfingsten Road and White Pine Drive. Police saw Strunga disobey a red traffic light signal before they pulled her over. Strunga was also issued a warning for the traffic violation.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Juan Jimenez Fernandez, of Waukegan, is accused of illegal driving slowly/impeding traffic, improper lane usage, open transportation of alcohol, driving under the influence, and was arrested at 4:08 a.m. Jan. 15, at Dundee and Shermer roads. A court date of March 1 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

DEATH INVESTIGATION

Police and fire department personnel responded at 4:52 p.m. Jan. 12, to a report of a person not breathing at a residence in the 1200 block of Larrabee Lane. Once the emergency workers arrived, it was determined the decedent had passed away. The family contacted a funeral home.

BURGLARY TO VEHICLE

A citizen reported at 4:16 p.m. Jan. 16, that she had parked her 2022 Honda in the parking lot of a business in the 3000 block of Dundee Road for five minutes. When she returned, she noticed someone had entered her unsecured vehicle and stole her purse that contained her credit cards.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A resident of the 1800 block of Summerton Place called police at 6:32 p.m. Jan. 16, to report someone shattered the glass on her front door while she was home.

THEFT

A resident in the 2600 block of Woodland Drive reported at 12:28 p.m. Dec. 20, that someone stole mail from his mailbox. One of the stolen letters was a check that was fraudulently endorsed and cashed in another state.

FRAUD

A Brookside Lane resident reported at 1:59 p.m. Jan. 17, someone hacked his online retail account and fraudulently purchased items. The subject also changed the email, address, and phone number of the complainant.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

A resident of the 1900 block of Big Oak Circle reported at 3:20 a.m. Jan. 18, he saw several subjects exit out of two cars and try pulling on door handles of vehicles parked in driveways. When the officers arrived, the two vehicles fled the area at high rates of speed. The officer tried to stop the vehicles but they refused to stop.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE

A resident of the 1900 block of Big Oak Lane called police at 6:01 p.m. Jan. 19, to report someone stole money out of her unlocked 2004 Honda CRV while it was parked in the driveway overnight.
