Drunken Driver Found Sleeping At Wheel: Northbrook Police Blotter
Police said the woman was sleeping in her car at an intersection.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
SUSPENDED REGISTRATION
- Timothy Buban, of Northbrook, is accused of having an expired registration, suspended registration, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 4:10 p.m. May 5, in the 1000 block of Waukegan Road. A court date of June 7 was assigned.
- Aidos Abitay, of Chicago, is accused of having an expired registration, suspended registration, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, no valid driver's license, and was arrested at 11:33 p.m. May 5, in the 2900 block of Willow Road. A court date of June 8 was assigned.
BURGLARY

Alex Y. Rubio, of Hoffman Estates, is accused of felony burglary, and was arrested at 9 a.m. May 8, after turning himself in. Rubio, who is a former manager of a Northbrook restaurant, is accused of stealing $800 from the restaurant on Feb. 15. A court date of May 31 was assigned.
RETAIL THEFT

Alene S. Morrison, of Des Plaines, is accused of retail theft, and was arrested at 4:16 p.m. May 10, in the 1400 block of Lake Cook Road. The loss prevention staff at a retail store stated they noticed Morrison picking up clothing and jewelry throughout the store. Morrison collected the items, put them under her arm and walked out of the store without paying for them. Morrison was charged with retail theft. The court date has been set for June 15.
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Abriair Fields, of Calumet City, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, improper parking on the roadway, illegal transportation of alcohol, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 6:50 a.m. May 11, at Sunset Ridge and Skokie Boulevard. The Northbrook Police Department received several calls about a motorist, later identified as Fields, unconscious inside a car. One caller stopped and attempted to wake Fields, who woke and sped away before the caller could determine if she was ok. Officers later found Fields asleep in the middle of the intersection. Officers tried several times to wake her. While trying to wake Fields, the officers observed a bottle labeled vodka next to her. Fields finally woke and became verbally combative with the officers. Due to her intoxication, the Northbrook Fire Department was called to check her medically. A court date of June 8 was assigned.

INCIDENTS
SWATTING CALL
Police received a call on the non-emergency line at 3:03 p.m. May 6, from a subject in the 2500 block of Windsor Lane saying he had hurt his father and was contemplating hurting other family members. When the officers arrived at the residence, the homeowners were unaware of the incident and were not the ones that called. The call was found to be a fake swatting call and everyone at the residence was in good health and not involved.
HIT-AND-RUN ACCIDENT
Police noticed an unknown vehicle at 3:20 a.m. May 8, had struck a village-owned flower planter and left the scene in the 1300 block of Shermer Road.
THEFT FROM VEHICLE
The staff at a local business called police at 8 a.m. May 4, to report someone stole the catalytic converter from their 2014 Ford 350 van.
ELECTRONIC THEFT
The owner of a business in the 800 block of Skokie Boulevard reported at 2:08 p.m. May 9, she received an email from who she thought was a vendor for the business. The unknown subject asked her to wire transfer money to an account because of payments not received. The business owner transferred over $4,800 to this account only to learn this was a fake email. The real vendor was contacted and confirmed he did not send any email for payment.
FORGERY
A Huehl Road resident reported at 2:17 p.m. May 3, someone generated a fake check to look like his business’ account, including a fake signature. The check was made out and cashed for over $9,800.
