Employee Steals From Employer; Graffiti Found At Parks: Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

NO VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE

Luis F. Membreno, 20, of the 500 block of N Central Road, Highwood, is accused of no valid driver's license, speeding, and was arrested at 12:15 a.m. July 18 at Willow and Wesleigh. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond and assigned a court date of Aug. 23 in Skokie.

An employee at Saks Off Fifth, 100 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 11:59 a.m. July 16 a male and female entered the store and removed numerous items without paying for them.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

A resident in the 2100 block of Valencia Drive called police at 5 p.m. July 16 to report that when they returned home, they found an open door that had been damaged. The complainant said several personal items had been taken.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT

  • A person reported at 6:43 p.m. July 16 there was new graffiti on a park slide at Floral Park, 3100 block of Floral Drive.
  • An officer on a routine patrol at 9:56 p.m. July 17 in the 1700 block of Techny Road found new graffiti on a concrete ledge and wooden post in the skate park at Techny Prairie Park.
  • An officer on patrol at 2:54 a.m. July 19 in the 1700 block of Techny Road discovered new graffiti written in the skate park area at Techny Prairie Park.

STOLEN VEHICLE

A resident of the 2500 block of Fairford Lane called police at 9:52 a.m. July 17 to report someone entered and took their unlocked vehicle from the driveway during the overnight hours.

THEFT-LOST/MISLAID PROPERTY

A person reported at 9:40 p.m. July 17 that they had forgotten their skateboard at Techny Prairie Park, 1700 block of Techny Road, and when they returned to retrieve it, someone had taken it.

IDENTITY THEFT

  • A resident filed a report at 3:29 p.m. July 18 at the police station that they responded to an alleged text message from the Illinois Secretary of State regarding their driver’s license. The complainant completed the request on the text message. Several days later, they received a notification that their information was used to file for unemployment benefits.
  • An Ellendale Road resident reported at 9:16 a.m. July 19 that they were alerted to a balance on a cellular account that they did not open.
  • A Cayuga Drive resident called police at 11 a.m. July 19 to report they received notification that their information was used to apply for unemployment benefits without their permission.

HARASSING TELEPHONE CALLS

A Sanders Road resident reported at 3:54 p.m. July 19 they had been receiving unwanted calls from a "private" number.

THEFT

A person at Dyn Audio, 500 block of Lindberg Lane, called police at 4:08 p.m. July 20 to report an employee is believed to have been stealing merchandise from the business.
