Explore Science With U.S. Olympic Speed Skaters In Northbrook
Noggin Builders will host a free event Sunday where the Olympians will lead hands-on STEM activities.
NORTHBROOK, IL — Students, families and sports fans will have a chance to explore science with U.S. Olympic speed skaters at a free public event this weekend.
Noggin Builders, a STEM center at 4165 Dundee Road, is set to host the program from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 29.
The program will combine hands-on science activities with lessons tied to Olympic speed skating. The center said athletes will lead interactive STEM experiments focused on the science behind the sport.

Attendees will learn how friction, aerodynamics, balance and force affect performance on the ice, according to the event announcement. The activities are designed to show participants how science connects to athletic training and competition, the announcement said.

"This is a unique opportunity for young learners to connect STEM concepts with real-world applications," said Amy Torf, owner of Noggin Builders. "Having Olympic athletes demonstrate how STEM impacts their sport makes learning memorable and inspiring."
Noggin Builders described the event as geared toward future scientists as well as sports fans. The center said the program is intended to give participants a behind-the-scenes look at how science fuels Olympic success.
