On Feb. 25th: 'Winning On & Off the Court' at Five Seasons Northbrook
Free session helps parents learn to coach their kids so they excel in basketball, school and life

A seminar that guides parents in helping their children succeed in all areas of life is coming Thursday, February 25th to Five Seasons Family Sports Club in Northbrook.
Bill Durkin and Bob Kauffman lead the free session, “Winning On & Off The Court,” from 7 to 9 p.m. at the club, 1300 Techny Road.
Durkin is a Positive Leadership Coach, and Kauffman is a psychotherapist and neurofeedback specialist.

The session helps parents coach their kids to:
- Become better at basketball while developing life skills and positive character traits
- Develop mental toughness and resilience
- Become more optimistic and confident in all situations
- Improve communication and decision making
- Improve attention and memory
- Incorporate planning into their daily and weekly routines
“We train parents to effectively ‘coach/ their children through challenges on and off the court by learning to model, mentor, and monitor the behavior they want their sons and daughters to incorporate into their basketball, school and life,” Durkin said.

Durkin, founder of One Positive Place, is an inspirational speaker, teacher, coach and mentor who has trained over 40,000 leaders globally through the new science of positivity, human strength and resilience. For over 30 years, he has been helping leaders and teams discover the positive way to win at work without losing at home.
A St. Ignatius High School graduate, Durkin went to Loyola University on a basketball scholarship and has two middle-school age sons who play on AAU national teams.
The session is relevant to parents of children from pre-school to high-school age, said Kauffman, owner of Critical Thinking For Success and co-founder of SportsBrain LLC.
Kauffman works with parents, students, athletes, businesses and the U.S. Marine Corps in how to use the brain more effectively to maximize results. He has extensive training in cognitive skill development in the United States and Australia.
