Fire Rescue: Northbrook Firefighters Help Person Out Of Burning Home
An investigation into the early Friday morning fire is ongoing, with officials saying it may have started in a fireplace.
NORTHBROOK, IL — An early Friday morning fire led to a rescue assist from the Northbrook Fire Department. Fire Chief Andy Carlson told Patch one person was helped out of the burning home and two other occupants were able to self-evacuate. He believes the fire may have something to do with the fireplace.
Firefighters responded to the home, located in the 4000 block of Evergreen Road, off of Sanders Road in unincorporated Northbrook, a few minutes past midnight after receiving a call from a resident regarding smoke in the house. Carlson said upon arrival, firefighters found smoke in the area around the house and some inside.
"We opened up the walls and roof around the fireplace to extinguish the fire," Carlson said. "The firefighters did an excellent job of finding and stopping the progress of the hidden fire."
