Gear for Goals Brings Hope in Sports to Children in the Dominican Republic

OVER $30,000 IN DONATED GEAR BRINGS JOY TO THOUSANDS

Dr. Warren Bruhl and other team members of Gear for Goals travelled to the Dominican Republic in September to provide hope and opportunity through sports and chiropractic. Working with another health charity, ChiroMission, and local sports programs, Dr. Bruhl’s team provided over $30,000 in donated sports equipment to children.

The event hosted by Bruhl and the local coaching programs was designed to honor parents for their service to the community and their families. Each parent was provided with a mitt, a new G4G baseball, and a bat. Fathers and mothers were then able to give this equipment to their son or daughter. One of the things Bruhl has discovered in providing resources like this he says is, “it’s important to make sure the parents are honored and not shamed when giving sports equipment, especially something they would love to give their child, but can’t!”

The Gear for Goals project collects new and used sports equipment and musical instruments and then provides this resource domestically and internationally to children in need. Gear for Goals has provided over 60,000 children in 20 countries with sports, arts, hope, and opportunity.
