Glenbrook North Soccer Advances to Super Sectionals
The Spartans earned their first sectional title since 2004 during penalty kicks against the Lane Tech Indians.
Spartan goalie, Senior Jack Pucin, blocked 21 attempts on goal during Saturday's game against Lane Tech in the secional championship at New Trier, CSL Insider reports.
Fellow senior, Costa Lillios, scored the decisive penalty that gave Glenbrook North their 1-0 win over the Indians. According to CSL Insider, GBN entered the game as the No. 5 seed in the tournament. Lane was the No. 4 seed.
“Jack Pucin was a man back there,” Spartans coach Paul Vignocchi told the Northbrook Star. “Our guys just stepped up and defended well. We probably knew that it would come down to PKs. And if we got one lucky break or one big save by Jack, we knew we could win the game.”

The Spartans are scheduled to play in the Super Sectionals on Tuesday at Glenbrook South against Stevenson High School at 6:00 p.m.
