Glenbrook Principals Opt Against Using Drug-Sniffing Dogs at Schools
Trust factor weighs in to call for detecting illegal substances at school.

GLENBROOK - The use of drug-sniffing dogs at Glenbrook high schools will likely not occur anytime soon after principals at both schools recommended against the idea recently.
But Glenbrook South Principal Lauren Fagel and Glenbrook North Principal John Finan agreed with District Superintendent Michael Riggle that the possibility would diminish the trust between students and administrators, according to a Northbrook Star report.
A number of parents had made the suggestion for law enforcement to use the dogs for random checks for illegal substances at the school in response to the perceived widespread drug problem at both institutions.

"We don't see any evidence that suggests this deterrent will yield less drug use or possession in school, and at the same time, we feel that the use of these searches will jeopardize the climate of trust in the schools," Fagel said.
