Unwanted food deliveries arrive; shoplifters caught on tape; booze found after crash crash, driver arrested: Northbrook Police Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 2500 block of Woodhead Drive reported that someone burglarized their car between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 7 and stole several dollars in change from inside.
HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 400 block of Lee Road reported that someone broke into their home through the window on a back door and burglarized the home on Jan. 9 or Jan. 10. Various items, including credit cards, were reported stolen.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Silverpine Drive resident reported on the morning of Jan. 11 that someone had used their identity to apply for several credit cards.
SCAM
A Spring Hill Drive resident reported on Jan. 13 that they had gotten a notice that they had won $35,000 and a 2020 Mercedes as a prize. They were asked to provide funds. It was not clear how much was spent, but the resident learned later that it was a scam.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
On two recent occasions, someone has damaged a light pole and a vehicle in the 2300 block of Salceda Drive, police were told on the morning of Jan. 14.
THEFT OF LOST/MISLAID ITEMS
- A patron at the Northbrook Court AMC theater reported shortly before 1 a.m. on Jan. 4 that they noticed they had lost their cellphone in a theater. The patron and a manager reviewed security footage that showed an unidentified man pick up the phone and walk away.
- A shopper at the Bloomingdale's outlet at 145 Skokie Blvd. reported leaving a purse behind in a fitting room between 1 and 3 p.m. on Jan. 12. When the shopper returned, the purse was missing.
SUSPICIOUS DELIVERIES
- A resident in the 3700 block of Walters Avenue reported around 11 p.m. on Jan. 5 that they had been receiving deliveries of food that they had never ordered. The resident did not know who would be using their identity to order food.
- A resident in the 900 block of Springhill Drive reported around 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 14 that an unidentified person had ordered a pizza that they had never ordered to be delivered to their home.
SHOPLIFTING
- Five male teenagers entered the Northbrook Court Louis Vuitton around 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 6 and stole about 10 items worth about $20,000 before fleeing in a white vehicle. Read more...
- Staff at the Northbrook Court Sephora reported that four female shoplifters stole an unspecified amount of makeup between 3:23 and 3:28 p.m. on Jan. 5.
- Security video at the Lowe's, 1000 Willow Road, captured images of two male shoplifters who stole three drills around 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 6, police were told.
BAD CHECKS
- A resident of a business in the 3400 block of Dundee Road reported discovering a fraudulent check had been deposited in their account on Dec. 26 in order to purchase a piece of equipment.
- A resident in the 2100 block of Foxglove Drive reported that someone intercepted a check payment between Dec. 5 and Jan. 2 and changed the amount and the payee without permission.
VANDALISM
- Graffiti was discovered spray painted onto a fence in the 1200 block of Cedar Lane around 5:45 p.m. on Jan. 11.
- A construction barrier at Illinois Road and Lorenz Drive was found defaced with graffiti around 1:15 a.m. on Jan. 15. Two construction barriers at Techny Prairie Park were also found with graffiti around 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 15.
- Police noticed graffiti had been spray painted onto the Ace Hardware building at 1941 Cherry Lane at some point prior to 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 15.

ARRESTS
Mytesha K. White, 27, of the 1400 block of South Berg Drive, Dolton, was arrested around noon on Jan. 3 after police reported she fled from the scene of a crash at Lake Cook Road and Interstate 294 in a car with a gun inside. charged with fleeing and eluding police, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, driving on a revoked license, leaving the scene of personal injury traffic crash and possession of a fraudulent driver's license. She was also issued citations for reckless driving, failure to yield, disobeying a traffic control signal, improper lane usage and speeding. Amari Wilkes, 19, of the 4800 block of 185th Street in Country Club Hills, was a passenger in the car. Police reported he was taken into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant. Read more...
Rayquan L. Minor, 20, of the 2100 block of North Lincoln Park West, Chicago, was arrested around 1 a.m. on Jan. 4 around Willow and Landwehr roads after an officer reported pulling him over for committing a traffic violation and smelling marijuana in his car. Police reported a search of the vehicle turned up individually packaged cannabis and THC-infused oil. Minor was charged with felony unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of an unspecified amount of cannabis. Officers also issued him a speeding ticket.
Gina Marks, 28, of the first block of Pine Tree Road, Northbrook, was arrested around 8 p.m. on Jan. 15 and charged with felony retail theft after staff at the Northbrook Court Neiman Marcus told police she attempted to steal about $1,300 worth of merchandise.
Natalia Gorjatschew, 35, of the 4300 block of North Melvina Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 11 a.m. on Jan. 14 following an investigation into a two-car traffic crash near the intersection of Founders and Kamp drives. Police reported officers noticed Gorjatschew smelled of alcohol and determined she was impaired. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Police also issued her citations for failure to reduce speed, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver.
