Northbrook Police Blotter: June 15 - June 21

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which merely represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Just because someone gets arrested does not mean they will be found guilty of anything by a court of law.
INCIDENTS

THEFT
Someone stole 11 packages from the porch of a home in the 4000 block of Greenacre Drive while the residents were out of town between May 9 and June 14.
THEFT
Someone stole five packages from a home in the 1900 block of Farnsworth Lane someone after 4 p.m. on June 13.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
Someone broke the front window of a home in the 700 block of Carlyle Court and ransacked the interior sometime prior to 10:39 a.m. on June 15.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A concrete goose that sits in the driveway of a 1st Street resident suffered unspecified damage prior to 8 a.m. on June 16.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone caused unspecified damage to a car parked in the 1900 block of Lincoln Avenue sometime before 10 a.m. on June 16.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 2900 block of Acorn Lane reported at 10:08 a.m. on June 16 that someone damaged their mailbox,
CAR BURGLARY
A resident in the 4000 block of Bordeux Drive reported on the morning of June 16 that someone broke the passenger window of their car and stole several items from inside.
RETAIL THEFT
An unidentified man stole a pair of boots from the DSW Shoe Wearhouse in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard prior to 6:49 p.m. on June 16.
FRAUD
A Maple Avenue resident reported on the afternoon of June 17 that they received an email purporting to come from a friend asking to buy iTunes gift cards and send their numbers. The resident did so but later learned that the friend's email had been hacked.
IDENTITY THEFT
A Williamsburg Drive resident reported on the morning of June 18 that someone had used their identity to make a withdrawal from a bank account.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident of Big Oak Lane reported around noon on June 18 that someone had used their personal information to open up a new account.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident of the 3700 block of Sunset Lane reported at 12:41 p.m. on June 18 that someone had damaged their mailbox.
THEATER SCAM
At 6:17 p.m. on June 19, police were called to the Northbrook Court shopping center for a report that someone was sold counterfeit theater tickets.
GARAGE/CAR BURGLARY
A resident of the 1200 block of Thornapple Lane reported on the morning of June 20 that some got into their garage through an unlocked side door and rummaged through two unlocked cars in the garage and one car in the driveway.
CAR BURGLARY
A resident of the 900 block of Red Haw Road reported on the morning of June 20 that someone had stolen a wallet from an unlocked car.
THEFT
A resident in the 800 block of Shermer Road reported at 10 a.m. on June 20 that someone had gone through their mail and stolen a recent delivery.
THEFT
A resident in the 1300 block of Waukegan Road reported on the evening of June 20 that someone had stolen a package that had been delivered to their home.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Police noticed what appeared to be damage to a ceramic goose on the property of a home on 1st Avenue.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Michael L. Williams, 37, of the 3200 block of East 92nd Street in Chicago, was arrested at 5:50 p.m. on June 14 in the 800 block of Bittersweet Drive and charged with unlawful use of a weapon. Police were called about an argument in a parked car. When officers arrived they spoke with the people inside, and when they searched the car and reportedly found a loaded revolver under Williams' seat.
A 36-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 7:15 p.m. on June 14 on Dundee Road near the Edens Expressway and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was also cited for improperly displaying a license plate.
Benjamin S. Holmbeck, 32, of the 2600 block of Quail Lane in Northbrook, was arrested at 7:45 p.m. on June 14 on an outstanding DuPage County arrest warrant after his bond was forfeited three days earlier in connection with in connection with charges of possession of a controlled substance, retail theft and resisting police. An officer on routine patrol who happened to recognize Holmbeck and know he had a warrant noticed him in another car while in traffic. The cop pulled over the car, confirmed it was him and arrested him.
Hogan E. Milam, 18, of the 3200 block of Oakcrest Drive in Chesterfield, Michigan, was arrested at 9:44 p.m. on June 14 near the intersection of Dundee and Portwine roads and charged with possession of a controlled substance. Police pulled him over for a traffic violation, and he reportedly admitted to having a small amount of marijuana in the car. Police searched the car and found several pieces of foil, which contained "further" controlled substances. Milam was also issued a ticket for improper lane usage.
Tiffany Nicole Reeves, 23, and Maryann Fajardo, 28, both of the 1400 block of South 48th Street in Cicero, were arrested at 12:14 a.m. on June 15 near the intersection of Willow Road and Ravine Way and each charged with possession of a controlled substance. Reeves was also charged with driving with a suspended license after police noticed her commit a traffic violation and pulled her over. While searching the car, police reportedly found a small amount of cannabis and pills in a wrapper. Prosecutors approved felony charges against both the driver and the passenger.
A 52-year-old Waukegan man was arrested at 8:35 a.m. on June 18 near the intersection of Dundee Road and Carlyle Court and charged with driving with a revoked license by police investigating a possibly overweight truck.
A 26-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 4:21 p.m. on June 18 near the intersection of Landwehr and Techny roads and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic crash investigation.
Gino J. Velcich, 45, of the 1000 block of Crystal Court in Glenview, was arrested at 1 p.m. on June 19 and charged with driving under the influence, with a suspended license, without insurance and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. Police were called to the area of 2nd Street and Techny Road for a report of a one-car crash where the driver had already left. An officer found the vehicle nearby and determined the driver, Velcich, was intoxicated. He was also ticketed for improper lane usage and improper backing.
Michael Lyn Mitchell, 45, of the 200 block of Skokie Boulevard in Northbrook, was arrested at 7:49 p.m. on June 20 after police were called to check on him. After located him they noticed he had an active warrant from Chicago.
